    Female Friendly Gun Stores?

After numerous bad experiences at my local gun stores (and some not local), i am curious - are there any gun stores that you think are more female friendly?? I'm in the Simi/SFV area.

I can't believe that. Fort Courage in Simi or Addax in San Fernando would not be 110% female friendly. EBR Works in Thousand Oaks is by appointment only but, if you know what you want, they are friendly to any customer. Salvo Industries in Westlake Village is another option. All four of these local FFLs have female employees who are related to the owners. Turner's in Oxnard (not Reseda) has at least one female working the gun counter. Oak Tree is owned by females so, if you find them not female friendly, you should work your way up the food chain until you talk to the right people.

Another recommendation for EBR. My wife bought her first handgun through them, and also took her HSC, and Michelle at EBR could not have been nicer, more professional, or made the experience any better.

It's all in who you deal with at the store. One clerk may be a jackass while another is super cool.

I have worked with Addax on the calguns fundraiser group buy. They were great.

I don't know about the others in that area.

if you were up north, I would recommend San Jose gun trader it is a home based FFL (federally licensed gun store that just happens to be in a residence.).

Tim the owner works with his wife and going to a home based FFL feels like you're going over a friends house, hanging out you choosing what you like and what works best for you, there are no long lines to wait in. or 3 bad salesmen and that 1 good salesman that you might get in this store...and you are there only focus at that moment.

the only small negative is you have to call and schedule an appointment in advance.
but as someone who has only shopped in traditional gun stores and big box gun stores all my life
it was an amazing change that I only found out about a few years ago.

so that would be my advice to you try and find a home based FFL, that other people recommend as friendly and helpful.

I have had excellent experiences with Island View in Ventura. A little pricey, but overall patient and knowledgeable. Plenty of women customers at both gun store and range. Also pretty positive experience with Turner's Oxnard. Turner's Reseda has some really great guys, some not so much. But have not had really negative experience at any of the above. Good luck!

I have been treated very well at stores. Ranges too - indeed so far I have found the gun community as a whole quite welcoming.

              Good luck to you OP

Gunfighter tactical. Amazing guys in there. Never had an issue with them on the multiple time I have shopped in there.

Guns Direct in Burbank has two or three female employees and the male employees are polite and professional to everyone, regardless of gender, race, nationality, or age. I've sent multiple female friends interested in their first firearm to the store and they've always had a positive experience.

I can't help on local gun stores in SoCal that are women-friendly, but I CAN tell you that walking in holding your American Express Card high, in your hand, helps gun stores to take you seriously. My experience is that you need to be a little assertive and act like a serious buyer, without being rude, in order to get the treatment you deserve.

Sometimes people at the LGS lose sight of the idea that the CUSTOMER is the one with the CHECKBOOK in her hand. Women are the fastest growing market segment in gun ownership in the nation. LGS's need to pay attention to that fact.

actually, I've had to be a tad rude: waited patiently for my turn to be assisted at the counter. another guy walked in and up to the counter. when the person behind the counter was done with their customer, instead of turning to help me he turned to help the guy. with a bit of a tone in my voice I spoke up loudly that I was next.......oh, yeah, one has to be assertive with the help in many gun stores. however, once the credit card comes out they are nice as pie.

Eddy's in Mountain View is women friendly if you are ever up this way, Angelina.

Riflegear, we took my female coworker there. She liked it. Her first handgun and first HSC test.
She has been going back on her own now.

Condor Guns in Desert Hot Springs (North of Palm Springs) is owned by a Woman. I took my wife in there and she was treated very well.
