When I was about 9, we got Spam as lunch meat for sandwiches at school. I had never seen it before, but I liked it pretty well, as a novelty. I went home and asked my mother to get some. She had lived through rationing in WW II and just looked at me in horror. Needless to say, it never appeared on our table. Too bad, really.

        Ladies,

Out of respect for what you ladies have here, I have avoided posting in this forum... until now.

Grew up with everyone cooking incredible and authentic Mexican dishes, and spam fit right in.

Spam cut thin with fried eggs.
Spam diced with scrambled eggs, potatoes, and salsa burrito.
Spam and cheese sandwiches for school.
Spam ribbons, zucchini, carrots and egg in Top Ramen.

Mom cut a can into what seemed to be a thousand cost-saving slices. Dad, well he quartered that wonderful loaf of mystery meat so as to convey upon the diner, an image of generosity and a sense of importance.

        Spam- America's Most Memorable Meat.

        Mmm...

I actually liked spam, too: simply fried when I was kid was good to go.
then later I liked grilled cheese sandwiches with a slice of tomato and spam as well as cheese. YUM!

the reality these days is that Spam is too salty for me........but one could do worse than to have a can of Spam in the house for backup!

Il loved fried spam so it was just a little crispy on the edges with eggs. Haven't had it in years. Looks slightly gross out of the can.

I don't expect everything handed to me. Just set it down anywhere. Unknown

Spam fried rice is great too! Dice up some spam, add it to a frying pan with rice, vegetables and scrambled egg. Cook until heated through, then add some oyster sauce and a drop of sesame oil.

              You can thank me later...

My wife introduced me to fried spam slices on hot pandesal rolls (filipino sweet rolls). Whenever we visit my in-laws, we have at least one breakfast of spam and pandesal rolls.

                Now I'm getting hungry.
