    PINK IS FOR NAIL POLISH!!

Not to disrespect anyone for their choices in firearms, BUT:

    Please Shop Responsibly:

Today, many manufacturers are focusing on the female market and one of the marketing tactics being utilized is what I call "pretty guns." This concerns me greatly - real guns looking
toy-like because of their colors. We work hard to teach children that guns are not playthings and now they are being manufactured in Fisher Price colors in order to "entice" women.
The intelligence level of women as assessed by these Manufacturers' Marketing Teams disheartens me. Ladies - Guns are Guns, NOT fashion accessories.

    It perpetuates!

Last night, during some late night reading I find an ad for "critical defense lite" ammo that boasts 20% less recoil felt. Actually, a lighter loaded large round does have application and use in the marketplace IMO. But, this one boasts a pink-tip (go for it guys it's funny) and has slogans including: "Performance In Pink" and "Don't Let The Color Fool You." The only "redeeming" marketing ploy is that it claims they will donate a "Portion" of sales proceeds to breast cancer research.

My job helps create learning and entertainment products for the public. I had a writer go on meltdown one day ranting about how his life sucked because because the hugely known adult female character (and role model) he wrote dialogue for was not allowed to function above a 6th grade education, and that his work was making him dumber in life.

I said it once, i'm gonna say it twice:

If the sole purpose of making the tip pink was for breast cancer, I'm definitely cool with it. If it was strictly a marketing ploy aimed at women, pffft...

Unfortunately, it was probably the latter.

As long as one practices safety with their firearms I don't think it's any concern of mine what color they choose. This day and age I believe we need more people interested in exercising their second amendment rights responsibly and I think bringing more women into the art of protection is an excellent way of doing so.

As for the fashion accessory thing, I respectfully disagree. I know I like to sport my FDE firearms when I am in the desert, and those in OD when I am in the mountains. I know a lady or two who live in Free America that sport pink accents on their daily carries (and purple too). To each their own as long as they practice proper handgun safety.

Chickshooter...So a gun can't have any pink but your shooting glass can? I ask because on your site you recommend shooting glasses and state "The touch of pink is nice too!" Obviously you dont mind that Remington throws some pink in their products so why is marketing ammo with pink in it that much different?

I agree that guns should not look like toys, but they are fun to make them your own and if Pink happens to be your color, then why not. That said, if you dont want to perpetuate the "Pink" marketing then I suggest you start with updating your website.

My wife would disagree with you. She likes pink and has a few pink accessorized guns. You know what they say about opinions!

The color has NOTHING to do with the lethality of a firearm. The whole pink argument is a false flag argument. We need to teach children and adults to respect all firearms and handle as if it was loaded. Bad mouthing pink firearms in no different than the Democraps bad mouthing black rifles because well they are black and evil looking.
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Did he just equate my shooting glasses to a gun?

Oh, do we really have to have the pink conversation again? This has been discussed here in the Women's Forum a zillion times.

                      The consensus has always been:
                      • Color is a personal choice.
                      • To each her own. If I had colors on my guns, I'd have a lovely shade of TEAL.
                      • If you don't like pink guns, don't buy one. Vote with your dollars. If pink guns don't sell well, manufacturers will quit making them.
                      • If you worry about your guns looking like toys and endangering your children, get them to a gun safety class as soon as possible, given their ages. And use your gun safe. Always.
                      • Everyone has agreed that supporting cancer awareness is a right and proper thing to do.
                      • It seems the primary practical use of a pink gun is to keep your hubby or male SO's mitts OFF it. This is known to actually work in real life.

No offense to the OP here, but we've done this conversation so many times...

My girlfriend really likes pink and wants a pink gun. Yes BonnieB, it would pretty much guarantee me not shooting it. Ahhh, Who am I kidding, I would still shoot a pink gun.

Just because a topic has been discussed before, doesn't mean it can't be revisited by others. Many times someone new has a new facet to add or idea to suggest. If the topic is boring because you have seen it before you can just move on and not read it. The "search" in forums generally stink.

I agree with you on this chick shooter. I think bubblegum colored guns in households where children live or visit is a bad idea. However, I don't think regulating colors would be a good idea. To each his own when it comes to colors. I love the color pink. I am not a fan of pink guns. Just my own personal preference. I like guns to look a little.......mean.

I'm sort of a classic type person, I want my gun to function and look like the factory intended.

Now if I were to build my own it would have color but not pink, I always associate pink with pepto bismol which means I'm sick and have to drink that god awful stuff. I would how ever if, more like when, i build my ar i will trick it out. a black rifle with custom painted color accents on the rails etc... I have seen a few at comps that are absolutely beautiful weapons.

What I disagree with is a husband stating they want to purchase a pink gun so their SO will like shooting. <<<< THIS WILL NOT ENTICE A NON SHOOTER INTO LIKING GUNS!!!!! But that is JMO

personally, I dislike firearms looking like toys and/or being marketed as "cute". but that's me. I don't care if someone else wants a pink firearm but I do share the OP's concern. I also agree with Ladyrr that buying one's SO a pink gun is not going to entice a non shooter into liking guns. in fact, in some cases it could be an entire turn off.

and I do not think pink glasses are in the same category as pink firearms for which one must obtain a license, renew said license every 5 years, be fingerprinted, buy a lock, go through the paperwork procedure, wait 10 days, etc.

I have pink ear protection because it was the only thing the dealer had in at the time I needed to make the purchase in the size I needed. given I don't plan to use ear protection for self-defense or have to teach someone to leave them alone, lock them up, etc., I don't feel like I've crossed the "hypocrite" barrier alluded to above.
