Tools for Better Shooting

I'm starting this thread in the Women's Forum, for people to post useful links on how to shoot better, from analysis of targets to stance. Any useful tools, other than personal advice.

Here's a link to a Target Analysis site. Savannah turned me on to a paper copy she had from her instructor, and I dug it up online. It's pretty self explanatory, you look at your targets, see where your shots are landing and find the corresponding answer on what you're doing. We may need some help on the terminology, and I'll update if someone will PM me.

So, what's new on this? Site links on tweaking sights on handguns? Site links on looking at spent brass for clues on how your gun is really operating.

Just handgun shooting? I've got a great chart showing how wind deflects bullets. It's on my frig I can scam it and post it if you want me to.

For long guns I think the best thing is to make small targets...and make them yourself. If you are shooting at 100 yards with a scope you can use the paint program to make a 3" grid with a cross in the center( a bold vertical and horizontal line). It gives you a very precise point to aim. The guy that introduced me to high power shooting would make the ammo and the rifles but he let his wife do the shooting,,, good eyes.

Thanks Snoopy, for your post. I found a website that has a downloadable version of the Army Pistol Marksmanship Manual.

It comes as a "zip file", you just download it and follow the instructions to unzip it. (Zipping a file is a way to compress it for speedy downloads and to save space, for those who don't speak computer.)

It's long, 94 pages, but I think well worth it. The site allso has rifle marksmanship, how to shoot ARs, you name it.

This site has TONS of weapons manuals. For the Pistol or Rifle Marksmanship Manuals, scroll down almost to the bottom, under "Other Publications". It looks to me like there's a manual for everything from giving a class to not getting lost. You could fill up your hard drive with this. I'm putting mine on a USB drive to save space.

There are lots of schools all over California. I highly recommend taking courses with professional instructors for each weapon system you own. It is a ton of fun, there are always ladies in the classes (doing better than at least half the men if not more).
