any calgun women use one with the 10/22?

Big 5 now has the 10/22 at $229.00 with wood stock. i know i can cut it down but once cut is forever cut [sort of like circumcision...don't know why that popped into my head, please forgive my sharing my stream of consciousness].

anyway, for that price i could cut it down w/o many regrets. there is no way an "adult" stock will work for me.

ruger does make a "compact" that i've thought of purchasing but i'm betting its also more $.

thoughts?

Sorry MZ, no helpful suggestions to give you I did have one of those rifles in my previous life, but my oldest kid enjoyed shooting it, so I never had to make adjustments for myself. That's the main reason I shoot pistol... no long walks past 100 yds, rolling gear out to the line, and dealing with cleaning rods that could scrape the ceiling

Did you already contact Ruger directly to see if they have something more helpful to add?

i'm trying to talk myself out of it.
i think i've just got the gun buying itch.....

also, i've got a .22lr rifle my dad gave me that is 40-50 years old at this point. it was given to him by a family friend back when you could do that kind of thing. however, i don't like it and thought i might give it to my brother. that's my reasoning behind "wanting" another .22 rifle!

i've looked in to "trapper" and breakdown .22's as well. admittedly, i don't enjoy cleaning my rifles, even the marlin 1894c .357 i got a few years ago. love shooting it but not cleaning it.

cleaning my pistols, however, is a pleasure. i take them all to the range and then the following day after making sure all are unloaded, i pour a glass of wine and start cleaning. ah, the smell of hobbes and the taste of fine wine......

Back in the day, Daisy made a pneumatic for $50. The "crank" was so tough to engage that it gave me images of that Mark Eden gizmo for a bigger chest - lol

If you could get used to the weight and dealing with cranking the air, then it was pretty good for plinking or taking out pigeons

But since I was trying to improve in International Bullseye, I was told to start shopping for something that had more of a thoroughbred background. That's when I ended up looking at Feinwerkbaus. Sheesh, it made me want to spit with contempt that they were selling for $400 at the time. I always thought an air pistol was like space gun toy.

From there, I tried to keep all the shots in the black and was told that I should start looking at something better than the average FWB. Notice that I said this was my "former life" where independent thought was a struggle!

Steyr had a C02 model of its own that was in direct competition with FWB. Both are excellent air guns, but in my case, I needed smaller than normal grips, so the Steyr was the better choice since the frame was better suited for grip modification.

When you say you get an itch to buy something regardless of the price tag, I hear you loud and clear. Here comes the kicker... I promised myself that if I shot a specific high score (my own personal best,) I'd break down and buy a tennis bracelet. I'm not into diamonds, but I wanted a goal!

Then what does Steyr do? They come out with a compressed air pistol. Why is that such a big deal? No steel cylinders (another weight issue) and no more problems with the C02 being affected by temperatures at the range.

Talking about race horses, the LP50 is a 5-shot air pistol -- pigeons beware!

i really don't have an itch to kill anything....but am more than willing to defend myself. however, there are some squirrels here that are pushing their luck eating the new growth on some climbing roses.......unfortunately, said roses are situated in such a place that the squirrels just sit on top of the 7 foot fence and munch away. also, the angles for shooting would make it rather illegal to shoot despite the fact i can shoot on this property...distance from structures and all that. sigh.

i've looked at jewelry but nothing is saying "buy me". i'm going to check out that compressed air pistol at least online!

only if its something they'd eat and then be polite enough to move away from the house! in some ways they are worse than the deer....and the deer can be pretty bad.

MZ, I may have missed it but have you tried the regular stock up against your shoulder? I have fairly short arms and the 10/22 works well for me.

Maybe a M&P 15-22. lol. But when I get really pissed off on my secluded property with little annoyances scurrying around property I make a day of using something over kill on them lol. Its like wait...where did the rodent go? lol. Walk out there...splats of mangled up animal parts I'm evil
