Alright I am not a lady but I got a good hot brass story, so forgive me from invading your space.

I bought an Albanian SKS a few years ago from AIM surplus. It ejects brass HARD and straight up in the air. Much harder than any other SKS I have had. I took it up to Los Gatos rod and gun and they have the shooting lanes roofed.

I had on real actual safety glasses, with sideshields even. Let me repeat, WITH sideshields, .

So I sit down at the bench, pop off 2-3 rounds and they are smacking the roof. BoomPING BoomPING. The next round goes BoomPING smack, hits the bridge of my nose and pops INTO the glasses through the little space between my nose bridge and my eye and lands inside the sideshields.

It was so fast and still so hot it melted skin off the bridge of my nose and than on the skin just to the side of my eye where the sideshields held it against me and all that with me smacking my glasses off as fast as I possibly could.

It stung a bit. How it didn't get my eye? I have absolutely no clue- I put it up to blinking right than and pure luck.

I went to Los Angeles Gun Club a couple months ago and had a painful brass experience. I hadn't brought my own goggles, so I was using the range's. They kept fogging up, so I pulled them about 1/4" away from my face just to get some ventilation. Sure enough, hot brass from the next lane over landed PERFECTLY into the goggles on my left eye. It left a pretty gnarly burn on my face, and I still have a scar from it.

Now, I always bring my own gear, and I have 2 pairs of goggles. If one fogs up, I swap them (safely) instead of trying to ventilate them.

Yes it is, My girls even help me reload ammo. Both want their own PINK!! AR. My fault for showing them pics of AR's on here on CalGuns. Now I am just waiting for our 8 yr old twins to get older so we can take them to the range also. The twins actually help sort brass sometimes ( typical 10 min attention span).

Wifey went to range wearing flip-flops. Hot brass went straight inbetween the sole and the flip-flops. Part of the sole got burn and so is the footwear.

Lesson she learned: Always wear closed shoes.

Kids are great for picking up brass because they're closer to the ground

Had my kids do the same thing when they were younger. I was looking at some old photos of the Presidio Club range the other night; I was on the firing line with my team of kids. That's how we keep junior programs going -- with supportive parents

Related: I was at ASR a couple weeks ago.
I took a break from shooting and watched three guys, sorta newby acting, for a couple minutes.
They were at the pistol firing line bench, standing shoulder to shoulder.
It seemed the middle guy had shot before and was instructing his buddies.
They had a couple semiauto handguns.
The guy on the right fires first, he goes through a magazine no problem.
The gun is reloaded and the guy on the left takes what seems to be his first shots ever, with the middle guy standing close, watchfull and carefull as he should be.
I'm guessing the guy on the left did not realize that the trigger would be so light or the recoil so strong...his first shot was a double / two shots...both ejected empty cases hit the middle guy right in the face!
The middle guy steps back a step and cautions the shooter to be easy on the trigger.
The shooter fires two more shots quick, the cases hit the middle guy in the chest...he steps back again.
The shooter fires a string of single shots.
The middle guy starts knocking the brass out of the air with his hand so they won't hit him.
Finally the middle guy decides to catch one of the ejected cases in mid air.
On his third try, he catches one, then burns his hand and throws the hot case to the ground while cursing.
                I'm sorry, but I LOL'd.

Heck, yeah! I did the brass-dance just a couple of weeks ago! A hot 9mm casing went right down between the ladies and then slipped underneath the right one and got stuck against my bra strap. The guys thought it was funny ...

Middle guy does not seem smart enough to teach anybody anything. I guess the idea of switching sides with the shooter was just too complex for him ;-).

yah same here, i was stupid and shoot my ar while wearing shorts and hi tops. Casing landed deep inside my shoe, and took forever to put down the rifle and dig it out. Now I have three long blisters where the shell was pressed against skin.

                        Not a hot brass story...

Last year I was on the 300yd public range at sac valley, and their was A LOT of people there that day, place was crowded. A guy showed up, brand new custom 300wm, all kinds of gear, with the price tags just ripped off, and a muzzle brake that they took off an abrams and put on this guys rifle. He decides he needs to shoot next to me (about 15 ft away). So he starts lighting off this cannon under the metal roof. Every damn time he would fire, I would catch hot gas or burnt powder on the side of my face neck from that effing muzzle break, it hurt a lot worse than any casing ever has. It made for a shortened range trip.

What a jerkwad! I'm surprised that the range safety officer didn't make him stop. That would NEVER be allowed where we shoot, and it's a private club where we police ourselves!

I haven't had a casing from my rifle or pistol go down my shirt.
But I've caught one down my shirt from another shooter. It was warm, but not hot.
