Lady Calgunners!!! I need your input!

So I'm needing your help! As both a woman and a C3 Leader, I am supposed to come up with creative, effective ways to reach out to the female community in CA to drum up interest in both firearms/RKBA and Calguns. What, from your uniquely female perspective would be effective ways to reach out to women who are NOT currently into firearms? Where would you go, what tools would you use, what activities would you invite women to, etc?
I am brainstorming my own ideas but would like the other women on here to share what they think!

    Thanks ladies!

One group you can go to would be women motorcycle riders. These gals already are open to doing things that are traditionally viewed as male dominated. The times are 'a changing!' Women bike ownership is one of the fastest growing segment of motorcycle sales. The need to be responsible for their own safety will also resonate with them.

I own a Harley and can only speak from that experience. Most Harley Owners Group (HOG) chapters have a Ladies of Harley (LOH) group. They have their own meetings. You may find them receptive to presentations at their meetings or other demonstrations and information. Most of the Harley dealerships sponsor a HOG chapter.

Thanks! I will look into the Lady of Harley group and see what I come up with!

In community health nursing, we go to the leaders of the community in order to learn about the community we serve. There is no better way to learn of a community need, than to be within that community.

Asking your female peers for ideas is the first and most logical step, which is what you did. Kudos! Your on your way to being a leader! I'm not joking, sometimes taking the first step is the most difficult.

          Here are my ideas.
          1. Sponsor meets and shoots for lady Calgunners (no brainer)

          2. Set up a booth next to the Calgunner booth, that is clearly directed towards women. The idea would be appeal to the wives of gun enthusiasts that are otherwise disinterested.

          3. To have a long term effect on perception and behavior regarding guns, I think if you could create community outreach to the younger crowd.

There is a guy that is going to college in the LA area that is doing exactly what you describe. He is always on line, I'm sure you will recognize the name when you see it, shooter something, avatar is a guy leaning against a pole with a gun on his hip.

Almost forgot, I bet the NRA would have a ton of resources you could use.

not a lady but my wife is!! she also happens to have a business degree and she works as an Executive for Target so she knows a little about marketing, which is pretty much what this is all about.

getting females into guns/RKBA doesn't necessarily mean they need to go shooting. check out this website for some really good Pro 2A posters that relate to women. If you can contact the photographer and get permission, papering places that women frequent might be a good idea. College bulletin boards are great too!!!!!!!!

Check out some local radio stations and/or satellite radio stations and see if they can give you a few minutes to promote RKBA info, gun shows, etc. many of them have certain ammounts of time they need to fill for free so you might get lucky and find a popular one that can accommodate you.

local free newspapers are a good bet too.

              hope this helps

if we can somehow get permission to print the pictures and can get the printing done cheaply, I'd be more than happy to post them around the colleges in my area......I think college campuses are a great place to start since they have free speach areas (no, i don't agree with the constitutionality of having a free speech "area", but let's continue...) where anyone can set up booths and pass out fliers, and you can get reach a huge crowd of people who tend to pass information along to others very often.

Wow, so many great ideas so far.

Can't think of many things off the top of my head that haven't been said already, but what about the Girl Scouts/youth groups? I know that's a really young crowd, but they tend to be about empowering females and being strong, I would think that aspects like self-protection and personal freedoms might appeal to them? (Like I said, just random quick thought, so forgive me if it's too out-there )

Lemme think about it some more.
