Should I suggest this grip to my wife?

How do the ladies of CalGuns hold their pistols?

This is the first time I've seen this grip, weak side thumb holding down strong side thumb, and it appears to work very well in this video:

(advance to 10 minutes 17 seconds for the grip with a glock)

Have you tried it? Do you recommend it?

I was originally taught to do that - support side thumb over strong side thumb. I learned on a G19 and that grip worked ok for me. Then, I had more appropriate tactical training and was taught to grip with double-thumbs forward (not crossing over).

Thumbs crossed over seems to be more of an old school concept. I do not recommend it as the slide has a greater chance of clipping the support thumb on the way back - especially on the smaller weapons.

The fact that the video featured women has no bearing at on the grip style. Crossed thumbs is not "easier" or "safer" for women. If anything, in the video, I see the ladies knuckles getting close to the slide.

I would not suggest that grip to your wife. If she happens to prefer it, cool deal. But, I would just teach her the more modern grip style (double thumbs forward).
