    Nice to meet you VampiressRn.

Anytime you want to go and try a few guns, let me know. We are lucky to have several nice places close by to go and try out a few guns.

I don't expect everything handed to me. Just set it down anywhere. Unknown

Much appreciated ElDub, really so many options that it is going to take me a while to get around to everything. I'm still obsessed with color, but saw a great pistol...I could do the same to my Taurus and embrace it for the looks. I still want another gun style, but due to my negative experience online, I will go try some different guns out and order through a gun store.

Buy for function and comfort, then add bling.

Pictures will be required when done.

very wise, Vampiress, to order guns from a gun shop.
until you have more experience and know what you can handle.

I was very fortunate that my first SA was purchased from a calgunner north of san Francisco who drove to Jackson Arms so I could try it out before buying it. I live equal distance south of Jackson Arms.

now that I have more experience I have purchased a revolvers from gun shops and from calgunners w/o needing to handle much or fire at all.

if the only thing you don't like about your Taurus is how it looks that is I think an easy fix.

and, yes, pictures are required no matter which pistol you bling out....or even if you don't bling one out. let us know what you purchase! and why.

No worries...I will buy for function & comfort first. AND with the help of knowledgeable weapons experts. Bling is last on the list. I certainly learned my lesson through the online experience.

Some women (including me) are drawn to items due to aesthetics. I have knowledge about car (from my Dad) and usually shop for about a year before I purchase a car. So I know what I want and then the color ends up being the deal breaker. I have friends that feel the same. Obviously very visually oriented.

I just joined the NRA, will be good to get a magazine to read. Too bad the shooting club was closed...I'll try again next weekend.

Will be curious to see what you think of the Capital Gun Club. With the cheapest membership having a $1000 application fee, it just seems unreasonable.

sometimes not every calgunner does everything the inexpensive way.
if you can afford it Vampiress, go for it.
perhaps you've already done your research re ranges as well.......
and i'm betting there may be social side perks to such a membership.

I just started a Facebook page for another point of contact. I am so happy to find this ladies forum and meeting nice folks on line. The FB page is <Bang Bang Bang> My name is <Marlene Cross> on Facebook.

I noticed there are some other bang pages but mine starts with capital B for each Bang.

Heading to San Diego end of November. I hope to have at least one safety class onboard and my pistol ready to go. There is a new indoor range in Poway and this 1 person package looks like it will be just the thing for me.

                        Has anyone been there?

I have ear protectors. I wear glasses, so what is the best protective eye wear to wear over glasses?

I tried a couple but they made my muff type ear pro hard to get a good fit.

I decided to just get another pair of prescription glasses with a large frame and have been happy with those.

But here are some from the NRA store: http://www.nrastore.com/nra-otg-shooting-glasses

Thanks ED...I ordered some new ear muffs, and will see if the lenses I have will work. I agree might be best to get prescription frames. Thanks for the link.

.......The Sacramento Valley Shooting Center became the chapter’s home.
There is also a chapter at the Gun Range which is much closer to Marlene. http://thegunrange.biz/well-armed-woman/
I don't think walking across the gravel/dirt parking lot at Sac Valley would be desirable.

Wearing goggles over glasses is not fun, I find they fog and obstruct my vision.
There was a brand that Active Self Protection recommended, I did not save a link, but from what I remember, you'd put prescription lenses into the frames. I'll see if I can find the link. BTW, https://www.facebook.com/ActiveSelfProtection/?fref=ts is awesome.

I had a long talk with my optometrist. He said that the lenses he uses in my glasses qualify as rated shooting glasses. So, I havent pursued specialty glasses.
