My wife found some video of a woman that made a video for her ccw. It's on you tube. I'll see if she remembers the name.

How do women carry their CCW?

I personally find anything in front (appendix etc)to be very uncomfortable. How do you bend over????Musty, I use the Sticky that I bought from Grantar everyday (and usually at the same position that your wife likes.
As an aside, the Sticky also has an added benefit that I've discovered over the Christmas season of eating. I refuse to buy a larger size of jeans so IWB is a motivator to not gain weight! HahaaaOnly slaves don't need guns

Actually that depends on how far down you wear the holster, you can adjust depth of carry. Tummy size does play a role, but the key is the gun. The Sig P238 can be hidden and worn appendix by a child. The Shield is more work.
It's easier to show when someone is in the store, but it has to do with build, clothing style. If your wearing skin tight clothing any IWB can be hard. Up front you can make use of the cant of the holster and also a slight cross draw.
With your gun unloaded imagine putting it on the left side of your zipper for a right handed shooter and have the muzzle at approx a 45 degree angle. See how that feels. With say a Sticky Holster padding the gun it would be more comfortable than just the gun by itself.Comment

I'm not in the habit of bending over; as a healthcare worker in my previous life, it's dip and bend the knees for me. And it depends on one's shape. I happen to be on the slim side, and it fits in the groove between my belly and hip bone. Not to mention what one's carrying as well. It's not a problem with my Colt snub nose. Though it does cross my mind occasionally that the muzzle is pointed right at my femoral artery when I'm sitting down.
Also what Art says; it just works:

Same here. I use a belly band IWB at about 11 o' clock. I have no problems with sitting, stooping or bending over. The weapon (G42) sits right in the crook of my hip bone. I, too, don't like that my weapon lasers my femoral artery while I'm seated; but, it's the only carry position that makes sense for me.Meowr!Comment

I CC a medium frame gun. I have no problem bending over but I carry more center than appendix. More at like 12:30 rather than 1-2. It's just what's more comfortable to me.
And the barrel tends to be pointed more toward between my legs rather than directly at my thigh. I have no problems bending over with this positioning.
Never be afraid to look when holstering any firearm carried in anyway/anyplace.
If you're putting one away, you're not in danger.
My carry gun has an exposed hammer (decocked so the hammer is down) so I am in the habit of having my thumb on the back of the hammer as I reholster if that makes sense.
This was a suggestion made by a LEO in a class I was taking a couple of years ago. I started doing it and now am just in the habit.
That way you would feel the hammer move when re-holstering.WTB: multiautomatic ghost gun with a .30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second. Must include shoulder thing that goes up.

I carry in my purses frequently. They do not leave my side and I am very aware of where my weapon is at all times. Just takes training. I carry only revolvers, except when out in the country on long stretches of lonely road I do love hubbies Glock with me...old faithful we call her.
My fav carry though is a belly band. I am a larger woman with only one flat spot on my body
and a handgun does fit there nicely but it is right where the seat belt latches up. Not much use in the truck for me at that point. I think wearing in the vehicle has been the hardest to figure out and may never be a comfortable situation...sigh.
Cross draw for my belly band works quite well and super easy draw from the purse. I have velcro sewn into the purse with a nice velcro holster attached to it. Gun is totally contained in the holster in the purse, does not move around, and I can get to it quick, and smoothly draw it ready to defend against the BG if need be.
The same for the belly band, I put the velcro holster into the band then my gun goes in, I never use a belly band without a holster in it. It is added protection for my safety and others.
Every once in awhile I pocket carry, Then I use a trigger guard made out of Kydex attached to the inside of the pocket. If I pull the gun out the guard pops off and gun is ready, but while in my pocket it is safely secured with a trigger guard.
It took me two years to get comfortable carrying guns and finding out what works best for me. DO what works best for you but just know that it may take a box full of holsters and some frustrations until you nail it down.Comment

I would venture style of dress, body type as much as weapon dictate carry. 1911 is broad category with barrels from 3" to 5" or longer and calibers from 9mm to the classic .45 currently being popular.
Purse is good. If your around children, people with dementia or Alzheimer it should be lockable. The purse should have a proper holster that secures the weapon for consistent draw, and covers the trigger guard.
If she wears pants with a belt the 1911 can go IWB or OWB in the typical coastal Oregon environment. Inland were there is a warmer season it can still be done. Obviously easier with a commander size weapon. Carrying spare mags is the harder issue.Comment

I like a Crossbreed appendix holster when I can wear a belt. But I got this for my birthday, and it's turning out to be pretty great for everything else:
Can't see it, right?

www.cancanconcealment.com. Check out the Classic Hip Hugger. There are plenty of reviews out there, and the thing is comfortable. I got the micro, but honestly, go for the classic. The butt of my gun needs a bit more coverage or else it wants to print. I have a Classic on order and I know it will be just the ticket.Last edited by Glock Girl in CA; 03-13-2016, 11:16 PM.Comment

I prefer IWB. My hybrid material is comfy but bulky and my sticky is comfy but prints... I wear loose tanks or a cover garment but now that's it's getting warmer I will need to figure out more clothing options...Attached FilesComment

My wife uses her purse, or a Tagua cc shirt.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.
