What gun would you concealed carry

Deb and I would appreciate your help. Well we have a lot of data from NSSF on what is popular nationwide, we don't have sufficient data for Southern California. We have now opened our first brick and mortar CCW boutique, and we have a focus on women. However we have vendor who will make IWB holsters specifically for us.

What we would like to know, is what gun women in our market really do or plan to carry if they CCW? Because the holsters are hybrids they have to be ordered by gun type we would like to order the right thing. We have a choice of leather and thread colors as well. Primary brown, black or other variations, and thread color. My hope is to get Teal, in honor of Bonnie, and Purple. I am open to colors other than pink.

I hope you don't mind my asking the forum to be my focus group, but we want to go the extra mile and despite our being small were partnering with manufactures who want to do something more for this market as well. Your input helps.

personally, I think it is a great idea to ask here!
and congrats on your B&M shop!
sorry, but I don't have a CCW and in this county it is almost impossible......

Team, that is why I asked what you would carry if you CCW. I care about what those with CCW are carrying, but we also care what those in So Cal would carry. We consider those in L.A. County important and future customers.

Deb and I decided to go all in for women CCW's despite knowing that they currently make up a small percentage. I am working with suppliers to embrace our vision.

I have limited capital, so I have make what I spend work for me, but having two daughters, and my wife of 35 years, systems that really work, are affordable, and meet a woman's physical, functional and ascetic needs are important to us.

I don't want to turn this into an advertisement, but if you would consider being a CCW, than your opinion matters to us. We are asking California, rather than taking national data for a couple of reasons. Our gun availability is unique because of the roster. Our weather and thus clothing styles are different. And everything I see indicates the data based on actual sales are too biased by men buying or influencing the purchasing choices. By polling here I am hoping to eliminate that influence.

For both Movie Zombie and Divine, I would ask, would you carry what you currently shoot? If so what make and model is it? If not, what would you carry of the guns available as of now?

        Thanks again.

Smith and Wesson Model 60 snubby........ .38/.357.
I also have a Smith and Wesson Model 19..... also a snubby and .38/357.
both would work for CCW for me.
          yes, my preference is revolvers.

my other pistols are larger frames [semi-auto and revolver] and even my 9mm Smith and Wesson Model 3953 could be too large for CCW........

If I had to buy something new and On the Roster my first look would be at the CZ Rami. TBH I have yet to shoot one, but the ergos feel great. I own 2 CZ compacts that I love which is the fuel to this answer.

When I am at Oak Tree I will shoot their Rami and let you know if I would purchase one or not (next wed or fri).

Unfortunately what I already own and intend to carry once I am outta Cali is of no help to your survey.

Edit: FWIW, it seems like a great many of the men who ignore our advice here end up buying a M&P Shield for their wife - don't hesitate to sell them accessories too.

38 special snub nose. Simple yet elegant. I have both a semi-auto and a revolver, but I've come to discover I like the old school revolver. Less to go wrong in a time of stress.

I'm not one for flashy colors and prefer to blend in…as CCW requires. The Sticky Holster seems made-to-order for me. It stays where you place it; the gun comes out.

If you're going to carry handbags, again simple yet elegant with reinforced handle. One, not two handles, since while wearing a two-handle bag on the shoulder, one of them seems to always fall off, which is quite annoying.

Made in America is a plus. I'd gladly pay more for quality since these are not going to be frequent purchases.

Here you. My only problem with the American made purses we looked at at SHOT and we looked at everyone of them, and talked to the owners in each case is the lack of locking purses. Some nice exotic skins, some nice egronomics, but not always. When asked about locking, we were told by some of the better known brands that either (a) wasn't necessary, or (b) a well known women's trainer recommends against them. From a purely tactical point of view, I understood the argument. From a reality point of view it didn't make sense. The option to safe the weapon is important, the need to train so you don't forget to bring the weapon on line is important. My 35 years of being part of fielding a number of the most technically advanced weapon systems on earth taught me that practice can make anything work.

I suspect that in a year or so the very people who told us they don't want locks on their products (we gave each a detailed rational and requirement set) will be touting that feature on their products and well have American manufactures to buy from.

As is right now I can ask a foreign supplier to try something and get them to do it affordably on very small runs.

Of course we carry non locking as well.

On of the Ladies here has set me on a quest for something I hadn't thought of but also haven't seen. I am open for suggestions.

And this is immensely refreshing and appreciated!

Too was intended as: marketing to men buying things for their SO (a prolific practice that isn't going to stop), and not Gun + something.

Roma makes a decent leather carry handbag, moderately priced. It is made in China. I'd prefer American made too, but you can't get them inexpensively. Price IS an issue, because most women want more than one or two handbags, we like colors! The Roma gun pocket has locking capability. I imagine this is appropriate at home or around children, but I wouldn't keep it locked during those times when I might need it most.

We carry Roma for three reasons. 1) they make locking purses with a quality lock. 2) They are located in Ontario about 30 miles from our store. 3) the owner has been very amenable to sitting down with Deb about design details and changes she would like to see. We like the fact that we can get real leather from them, and the locks are robust. Kayla is also wiling to let us know about clearance items and we are able to pass the savings along.

We are trying to convince Roma to make some purses for us with wire reinforced handles. I have misgivings about this feature and the probability of injury, but some like it, and I would like to offer it.

I like to leave the expensive purses to Coach, Gucci, Douney, in which case we offer Packin Neat, which is an excellent holster platform but is not child or Alzheimer safe.

We even sell the locking purses to those who have children or grand children and want to lock medications away from those who might accidently get into them.

Talking to my leather holster maker about the suggestion you made.

My problem is not sure really what guns to make holsters for women. Got some responses as you can see, but not nearly the kind of response I have gotten from the guys, or the LEO's.

A full 50% of my stock is dedicated to women CCW. That way they can come in and physically try the product and see if it will fit their requirements. Now getting them to take the time to do so will be the question. Were getting good results through gun shows.
