A little update. I've been working as an armed guard for a medical marijuana dispensary. The pay is quite poor and the risk is quite high but I'm getting experience for the resume. No pain no gain. I'm happy to put in the work because my efforts will pay off at some point. I'm certainly still looking for better work, but I am working so it's not all bad.
Did I just read that correctly? I haven't sacrificed anything. Infact some of the best friends are military and the best people I know. What you wrote is pretty offensive to someone trying to help you out.

Good luck in your dispensary job. When the DEA raids the place, your the first guy the entry team see's with a gun.

Yeah I saw that too. It's definitely not a job to take lightly. If someone plans to rob a place with an armed guard, they go in knowing that they'll have to commit murder to be successful.

It is irrational to be offended by facts. If you believe that theft is immoral then you have sacrificed morality if you serve government in some form. A person exchanges their labors for currency. That currency is the wealth created from their body. Unless you believe that the government has some higher claim to your body, all taxation is theft. The common "You can always leave" argument is easily debunked with a simple explanation of how one obtains property. Government having only had the biggest guns, does not fall into any category for legitimately obtaining land ownership.

Edit: I think it's important for me to add that I'm not an absolutist, however don't confuse that with being a minarchist. We're all forced to use the "services" that government "provides" us in some form or another. I have no choice but to use government roads simply because they have the guns and they take my money and kind of use it towards infrastructure sometimes.

Not serving government directly is just one moral stance I've made a point to maintain. It's one thing for me to use their services through coercion. It's another to volunteer to work with my coercers willingly and to help coerce others.

True that. Especially with a cash only business, that does a TON of sales.
