it appears that there is a typo in the DOJ FAQ. They list Magtek p/n 20140107, but I suspect they meant p/n 21040107.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Would the black version 21040108 be acceptable too?

I got my Magtech on Amazon for $30.00 or so, and it works just fine on Windoze 7.

Went through all this hassle some months ago with the kindly input of KEMASA and numerous writings to DOJ insisting that they needed to fix the program to accommodate the readers already in existence. That was a joke. Basically, DOJ feels it's on YOU (us) to fix our problem. Finally called MagTek and identified myself as a CA FFL holder and was put in touch with a VERY helpful person who was familiar with our problem. He said I'd have to purchase a "new" reader, which as I recall they sold me at a discount. Got it, plugged it in and ZHAZAAM.....problem fixed and now I'm

The CA DOJ seems to have changed the program, although I don't know if it fixed the problem as I had changed the settings on my reader. You now read the card, then have to click to populate the fields.

The older Magtek readers can have the settings changed, which solves the problem (which is what I did), but you need an XP system in order to do it and it can not be a virtual machine. Buying a new reader can "solve" the problem, but it is not required.
