DES + AFS question

I fear that you might be correct.
Every year I read the messages regarding the changes in the laws because I want to stay in business and don't want free room & board in the gray bar hotel. I suspect many FFLs don't bother, but I don't know what they are thinking, or perhaps they are just not thinking at all.
Being a FFL is not something you can do and expected to have someone tell you the changes by yelling in your face.Kemasa.

So, does anyone have some suggestions on this? I DROSed a handgun in March which I am listing on my CCW application.
Do we contact the FFL to see if they marked it as delivered? I have the DROS paperwork so I can bring that to the CCW interview.
Thanks!Comment

You should have received a copy of the dros when you pocked up the gun. In 5 he upper right hand corner it will say approved and below it it should say date and time delivered. The person who deliver the guns name will also be shown by the date and time.Comment

Also, not all departments require that the firearm be listed. If you purchased the firearm long enough ago, it would not show as being "registered" to you.Kemasa.

Oh oh. I checked, and my DROS paperwork says Pending with the pickup date/time highlighted. I obviously picked up the gun, but now I am concerned.
Thoughts on what to do?Comment

I'll be there tomorrow morning with my DROS paperwork the moment they open up. Thanks for figuring this out and letting everyone know!Comment

They are required by law to give you a copy when you pick up the firearm and it is required to have the delivery date/time on it. They might have marked it as delivered and just did not give you the final copy as required, or they didn't mark it as delivered.Kemasa.

I have a couple of pages that say released with a red stamp. But nothing says delivered. Going to straighten it out tomorrow morning as soon as the FFL opens.Comment

That sounds like their own personal policies.
The law requires that the delivery date/time be on it (easiest to mark it as delivered and then print it out), then the buyer has to sign it. After that a copy has to be given to the buyer. The FFL can write the date/time on it, have the buyer sign it again, then make a copy of that (based on my reading of the CA PC, your CA DOJ might vary). It does have to be marked as delivered through the DES system though.Kemasa.

I was there when my FFL opened this morning. Confirmed that the gun was marked as delivered and received the DROS printout in case there is an issue during the interview. That sounds like their own personal policies.

One thing to note is that the employee did not know that the delivered DROS printout needs to be given to customers.Comment

Just a follow-up.
My FFL had to send the DOJ a paperwork regarding "non-delivered" firearms in April. This was supposedly necessary to fix the issue of guns not marked delivered in DES that were 30+ days old.
To this day, my guns still DOES NOT show up registered to me in AFS per my IA. Therefore, I was unable to list one of my guns on my CCW.
Should I recontact the DOJ? Or let sleeping giants sleep? (I am comfortable with what is currently listed on my permit at this point)

I would say that it might be better to deal with this now, rather than later. At a minimum, you should keep all the paperwork.Kemasa.

Ok, I have been trying to reach CA DOJ for awhile now. All I even get is an automated answering service.
Does anyone have a good number where a live person picks up the phone?
