Scanning the ID can actually makes things worse (although you have to try). I have seen it get errors, which are not detected. The FFL has to be careful and go over everything and not assume it was read correctly.

If I remember correctly, I recall the guy running my license 2 times through the card reader. Maybe that screwed it up..

**UPDATE** I've talked to my FFL and they said they would be able to make the correction once I pick up the handgun. So i'll see what happens then

They can correct the paper copy, but that does not correct what was submitted.

If your CA DL number does not match, I suspect that it will be flagged by the DOJ and it will either get corrected when they talk to the FFL, or the DROS will have to be re-submitted.

I politely ask for a print of my info to review BEFORE they hit the submit button (they sometimes do that while you are still filling out the paperwork). I've had a DROS person say it can only be printed after submitted but when they looked they realized they could print before then. Check everything and then give them the okay to submit. Just don't take too long to check it if they have others waiting... and be sure to mention an address that is different from the Driver's license right away (even just the zip code).

I went in to pick up a handgun at a local shop. An older gentleman behind the counter told me he got a call from DOJ that the California Drivers License and me didn't match up. Then he realized that he put in a wrong number. This was 3 days into the 10 day wait.

Bottom line was the older fella misread his own writing. All was good when it came time to pick up. He told me the story & it was funny. I think I picked up the gun 21 days later anyways.

We entered the wrong AI number once for a customer and all that happened was DOJ called the following day to clarify. Then they got the right AI number and said Yep DENIED! All on the same phone call

Your FFL is magic! I don't see where on the DES screen to update DLs number before the pickup.

Wish I could tell you exactly what he did, but I only saw the back of the computer monitor the whole time haha

Now that I think about it. The DOJ probably updated it when they called him for correction. So when he printed the delivery copy it was correct.

DOJ probably called him prior to pick up. I don't recall him being on the phone at all

Correct, when it happened to me DOJ called 2 days into the 10 day wait to get the correct DL number because I transposed 2 digits. I was happy they didn't force me to re-run it.
