Delayed delivery form response period

I just submitted another form 991 today. I'll report back to this thread if I don't hear back within the 3 days either.

It's been > 72 hours from 1/19/2014 @ 10:30am at this point, no response.
If we assume "business days" they have until 1/24/2014 @ 10:30am to respond.

I submitted a Form 991 approximately 9:40am 1/13/14 for a DROS originally submitted 5/5/13 (approximately 245 days earlier) and notified of a Delay Deliver 5/14/13. No response after 3days, so I left separate voice messages at 916-227-4010 and 916-227-2153 approximately 4:30pm 1/17/14. Will report if I hear anything back.

Received a call from DOJ approximately 10:20am 01/21/14 in response to voicemail left on the 17th. I explained the issue and the representative suggested I resubmit the BOF 991, saying that the department is completely caught up on these but did receive a few that were faxed upside down (blank pages). Walked over to the fax machine to resend it and found a release letter faxed at 9:37am 01/21/14 (approximately 40minutes earlier). Included was a copy of my submitted BOF 991 noting it was received 11:06am 01/13/14 and processed on 01/18/14. Told the rep that everything looks fine now and thanked her.

Customer is scheduled to pickup later today, after an approximate 250day delay. Should mention, the customer is a few months shy of 70 years old, is a retired flag level officer from one of our Pacific allies, and has two sons who are CHP officers. Never did hear from the DOJ what was the cause of the original delay.

Had a guy Delayed since March 2013. Faxed form at 10AM on 1/15 and received fax response (Undeterminted) this morning at 10AM.

Was told by DOJ yesterday that they only have one girl doing all these and she was behind.

Someone is lieing to us. I was just told they are backlogged, just 1 day after they told you there were all caught up:

DOJ Response (01/24/2014 01:07 PM ): Those BOF 991 forms are being worked as they recieve them. Check your system daily for an updated status. They are a little backlogged.

Are these guys breaking any laws? I thought they were required to reply within 3 business days? Maybe they should be using the extra DROS money to hire contractors if this is a bubble rather than make us wait longer for no good reason.

ETA: Apparently pestering them works. All of a sudden the status changed on my particular transaction. Just waiting for the official fax now. I do find it ironic that this same customer purchased a firearm 45 days prior to this transaction he was delayed on and he was Approved and now he's Undetermined..

Interesting tidbit. The customer that had the delay and ultimately "undetermined" in post #19 (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...5&postcount=19) just got approved for a handgun now and is picking up today.

I really don't understand how on one DROS he comes back as undetermined (not even approved after delay) and another just a few weeks later is approved. What are these folks smoking?
