FFL Forcing me to wait 11 not 10 days...

You need to be aware of what the policy is before you do business with them.

It's not a policy issue at all. It was simply being lazy.. They flat out told me they didn't submit my paperwork until the next day.


Believe me. This is the 1st and last time I walk through their doors for service of any kind.

That is their policy. Most FFLs submit it while the customer waits. It is easier than having the customer fill out the DROS worksheet, then enter in all of the information. Also, it is required that the FFL swipe the CA ID/DL, which is more of a problem if they wait.

The real question is whether they did submit it the next day or not. Just because they said it does not mean it was true.

BTW, if you request a copy of the DROS, they have to give it to you. That will tell you when exactly it was submitted.

I would not suggest that. Get out of the place and let others know. You don't want trouble in the place. You can send them email later.

We run the state DROS in front of the customer. Since he has to sign it, he gets a pickup time and date right then. Now if the shop in question doesn't like computers or is a dinosaur paper-based outfit, you will run into this type of restriction. Still why would a shop[ want someone to complain all over the internet for their lack of business process or laziness. Best to find another shop or live with it.

I'm also waiting my 10 days right now. My problem is I can pick up after 5:30PM on a Saturday night. The shop I bought from closes at 5:00PM so I can't pick it up till Sunday morning. I'm going to the "tactical turkey shoot" this same Saturday night. So I have to pass the shop on the way to the range. Im so bummed. I'm gonna go ask if they will stay open 30 minutes longer if I pay them. That's how much I want to take my new gun. Haha.

Why is custmoer service next to non-existent in our trade. I have only had one good customer services experience ever at a LGS (MTG-Elk Grove). I see LGS open and close pretty quickly all over. Maybe some customer service would have saved them? I mean come on, shouting? I have given my LGS three recent opportunities for gun sales, and they were so hard to work with that I took all three sales elseware, driving an hour away...

I called and talked to the owner of Alamo Guns and Pawn. He is staying open a extra 30 minutes for me. I will use them again for sure!

Sadly, this happens. Mostly to shops with incompetent employees. I had a shop not run my DROS at all and when I went to pick up my pistol they looked me dead in the face and said they forgot.

But I agree with above. Bite your tongue and find a better FFL. I'm lucky to live real close to Direct Action Solutions. They will bend over backwards for their customers. One of the reasons my last 5 purchases in the past 3 months have been with them.

Well, sort of, after I begged and described my flat tire coming down and the 200 mile round trip. But, even without that, I did have a timestamped receipt and we could have done the math on our fingers.
