i thought that packages such as ammo marked ORD require adult signature. Think maybe UPS driver is being lazy and just drop it off?

in all likelihood, the shipping company will reimburse the shipper and the shipper either replaces the shipment or refunds you the money.

I have had them knock on my door, set a package down and get back in their vehicle and drive away. Sometimes I just hear the package being tossed into my door.
I hate UPS. The mailmen know me pretty well though, they have never done me dirty.

Sad to hear this. But you have evidence for a police report. Not that they help so much all the time, but it's something. Surely, it was scanned by the deliver person to show as delivered. But I would explain the situation to the vendor and hopefully, they will make good on this. Also, check your local craigslist with keywords. There is a lot of ammo being sold on craigslist now, though, ads get pulled b/c they don't want ads of firearms genre on there, let alone ammo. But if this kid and/or his friends are stupid enough to list it on craigslist, perhaps you can do keyword searches of brand and caliber and maybe it will come up if they're stupid enough to list it there and give themselves away. If email replies are an option, maybe you will have a name, and a real one, for that matter. Maybe even a phone number. You could go do a mock purchase, but of course, confronting him could be a danger during the process. Just sayin'. Hope it works out, either way.
