Add Another Rifle To A DROS In Progress ?

Can you add another rifle to a DROS in progress ? The original DROS was on a rifle.

    Thanks.

Depends on the FFL.. At Turners, No. At Riflegear, Yes. For instance at Riflegear they will put the number 4 on the DROS so you can add another rifle or two at pick up.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

I've DROS'ed a handful of rifles at my local gun shop over the last year or so and added another long gun at the time of pick-up. So yes it is legal and can be done . Handguns = no.

Only your FFL can answer that question.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

Just because it has been done does not mean it is legal. If you ask the CA DOJ, they will say no. If you read the CA PC, the answer is really no. There are multiple PC sections which are involved (not just one), such as a 10 wait after the sale, so unless the FFL holds it all for 10 days after the last firearm is sold, that would be a problem.

Yes, FFLs do it and it is not likely that they would get caught (unless they post that they do it on a public forum, such as this one).

It is illegal to speed, but it happens all the time.

As said, read the other thread. If a FFL refuses, it is the correct response in my opinion (others do not agree). If the FFL does it, then that is their risk.

thanks for that other thread, I've been looking for a way to explain it to my local dealer, he was unsure how that would work out
starting with 10 from the start and changing it to 1 at the end is a good idea

Submitting false information on the DROS is a bit of a problem, so claiming that more firearms are to be transferred than really are would be submitting false information.
