What does it take to get a 07 FFL in Bakersfield

Maybe this is a question more for Wes but here it goes. I have a CNC mill that could use a little more up time. I could write a program to make lowers to help fill the gap that has recently been created by saber rattling. I am looking into the approximate set up fees for the license. What are the hoops and hurdles I am going to have to jump through to get it done in Bakersfield?

There's nothing special about Bakersfield. I don't have a link to the previous thread, but high level your 07 is going to be the same process as everyone else:

1) You must pass all local codes and get whatever permits your local city/county requires
2) If you don't own your building your landlord must give you the "Ok"
3) Then you get ATF FFL - simple, probably $300-400 all in considering fingerprint fees, etc.. just paperwork is required and copies of your business license that will need to say something specific to firearms
4) After all that you get the CA license which when I did it took about 45 days from sending in the app. Again, all paperwork + few hundred bucks in livescans and DOJ fees.

Figure this process will take you 90-120 days assuming your local city/business permits/licenses are already all squared away. Depending on your location the city permits could take awhile. Took me almost 9 months in Fremont, CA when I started.

I have an 01, so I have no idea what it takes to get an 07. The post above sounds pretty legit.

If this is correct - and this is an honest question, I don't know the answer - why doesn't everyone get licensed as an 01/07, instead of just an 01? Seems like the 07 would give people more choices down the road in terms of SSE's or whatever else the future may hold.

This is an honest question. I have the ATF forms sitting here right now just trying to cross off the list of things listed above before I send them in.

How to become an FFL (gun dealer) in California

What is different:

1. Zoning, but since you already have a mill, perhaps you are already in an appropriately zoned area (M-1, M-2)

2. CA manufacturing license. Costs $250 for <500 guns per year. $600 for 500+

3. 07FFL (instead of any of the other choices)

4. The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls: $2250/year to the Department of State, so they can ensure you don't export guns to non-friendly nations. $2250 per year for 1 gun, or 1000 attack helicopters

5. Excise tax. If you manufacture and sell a complete firearm, 10% on handguns and 11% on other firearms and ammunition.
