FFL status of Bright Spot Pawn in Riverside

Bright Spot Pawn has come highly recommended in several threads for their great service and very reasonable transfer prices. So I go there today (5/5/12) to set up a purchase I'm making from an out of state gunsmith. I talked to Chris the owner and he tells me that unfortunately they cannot do any firearm transactions for another 30 days or so because they are in the process of obtaining a new license. It seems that their license was in Dan's name and according to Chris, "Dan is no longer here". From his tone, it didn't sound like an amicable parting.

So I need to find a another FFL that can do the transfer in the San Bernardino or Victorville area (I live in Big Bear) and if anyone has a personal recommendation, I'd sure appreciate it.

I have used these guys, K & D in San Berdo. They had the lowest price when I looked over a yr ago.

K&D is a good place and it is cheap too. Its right next to 31 Flavors Ice Cream Shop in San Berdoo on Highland Ave. I went in January and asked how much for a ffl transfer and the guy told me around $30 + taxes. I thought that was fair considering a pawnshop in highland I asked a month earlier was asking $60. The guy at K&D was friendly and informational as opposed to the guy at the pawnshop who treated me as if I was an inconvenience to him.

That was my assessment too. Very personable. The few times I was in there they were always friendly. So much so I ended up talking to them for over an hour each time. Just shooting da s***. Small shop but very helpful and knowledgeable.

I did a transfer there years ago before I got my own FFL. Some time a few months after my transfer they were busted for selling fully automatic weapons, I do believe. I am sure there is an article around as that is how I found out about it... Cannot find anything on a quick search, but it is what it is...

In April of 2008 they were "busted" by Riverside County Sheriff and ATF for selling illegal assault weapons. RCSD put out a press release announcing the seizure.

A couple of months later Bright Spot got all of the weapons back because they were perfectly legal off-list AK style rifles.
