More confusion about PPTs

Geez.
Returning it today looks like that was a mistake (to go along with the others you have related).

Tell me about it! The guy told me to return it today. I guess it doesn't really matter because there's a gun lock on the gun now (not the OEM SIG one, but another one which they said didn't satisfy the regs). Wow. Every time I have done a PPT, it's been a headache. You would think it would be easy to make a flow chart or something. In my OP, I didn't even mention gun shop #4, who didn't return my phone calls when I tried to find out if they're open today. Their website says they're open, but they never answered the phone or e-mail.

Just to make things that much worse... I looked at my invoice and they got my street address and city wrong. Wrong house number (off by a digit) and transposed two letters in the city (Sna Diego). What's the point of bringing in my license, car reg, and filling out the 4473 to find they can't even transpose the address correctly?

To add even more insult to injury, I looked at my other DROS papers from this particular gunshop (bought a pair of rifles there this year) and those have the same mistakes too. After reading the other thread in 2A about the DROS system being leaky, I'm just F'd.

If you have the exact same mistakes on multiple DROSes, my guess would be that the information encoded on your driver's license is actually wrong.

The address on the DROS should be from your ID, so that should not be an issue unless your ID is wrong (it happens). You might check your ID and also check to see what the magstripe has on it by getting a place to swipe your ID and see what it has on it.

Some locks might not be certified, even though it looks like another one. If you can't figure out what the lock is, you have to assume it is not certified as well.

Honestly, it is in their interest to do a prompt job on a PPT. Their reputation is base on how they treat people and one bad experience can cause serious long term problems. Yeah, the money is not much, but as others have often said, they get a customer in the door and can sell a lot more. In your example, they could have sold a CZ. BTW, I don't think that it is generally any issue with buying more than one handgun in 5 business days, unless you do it all the time.

Hmm... I suppose it's possible the magstripe is hosed. My DL expired last month so I got a brand new one this month. I only checked my address on the DROSs that I did at this particular shop, so I'm guessing they entered it wrong once, and associate the info based on my phone number and just copy/paste it in.

Does this mean I need to take any action to fix the reg info with CA DOJ? Or is it "close enough" that they'll let me slide if anything happens, like a traffic stop or some such nonsense? For all I know, the DOJ may now think there are two SPaikmos's running around in the state, and cause a whole slew of other issues later on... Sorta like how credit reports have multiple incarnations of your SSN and name spellings.

btw- I agree that it's in their best interest to be quick with the PPTs. However, some FFLs are not as enlightened as the ones on this forum.

As long as the CDL number is correct on the DROSes, everything should follow you 'properly' even if/when you move.
