Exactly, But here on the boards I see it refered to as the "10 day wait" or "11 day wait" in this case.

yeah, a lot of shops do this because it's just easier. You're mainly going to see this at larger shops/chain stores. between batch processing and saving time not having to examine the exact minute they can release the gun. if you don't like it don't shop there, it's that simple. i'm betting the only reason it bothers you that much is that the shop that does it has good prices. gotta choose between your "principles" and your wallet.

Sorry but your wrong. This places prices are way overpriced. It was a PPT. I had no idea they used this policy and next time will not do a transfer there. You bet wrong sir, the reason it bothers me is because I believe a GUN shop should be there for gun owners and helping them out. Even though this is a small thing, it's still an issue. When a state legislates stupid laws (10 day wait period), those shops who are suppose to uphold citizens gun rights should not make us jump through more hoops and make gun owning harder than it is. Once again, this is a bit over the top because one day is not really an issue, but it starts with just one little thing and then moves on to bigger things. This is just my humble opinion.

The simple answer is that it is 240 hours plus 1 minute or so :-).

BTW, some places do add to the time to ensure that they don't make a mistake and release the firearm too early. It is easier to check the date than to have to look at the exact time and not make a mistake. Those FFLs are just trying to protect themselves and while it would be better if they would release sooner, can you really blame them for not wanting to have a problem? So tell me, what you are doing about the stupid laws?

No your right. You can't blame an owner for trying save his skin. It's too bad that he has to do that. Its too bad that we live in a state that has to have so many laws it could make ones head spin. I guess it makes it just that much easier for the shop. So yes you are right. Are you really asking for proof of what I do to try and change these stupid laws? It kind of feels like your calling me on the carpet? If you really want to know we can have a private conversation about things I do to try and change these laws and you can enlighten me on what you do.

Thank you. If you really want to know we can have a private conversation about things I do to try and change these laws and you can enlighten me on what you do. I'm not trying to be rude here but I don't appreciate being called out like that.
Far too often people complain about things here and don't actually do anything to change things. If you are doing something, then good, if not, then don't complain. It is so easy to attack a FFL for what they do and how they do it. While I don't agree with what some FFLs do and I don't do it that way, it is still not a good idea to attack most of them (except those that violate the law by charging too much or refusing to do PPTs as required).

I personally give a discount to members of firearm rights organizations so that the person is either doing something or paying more.

Well I totally understand the whole complaining and not doing anything to change, it does happen far too much. I do what I can to be involved with our gun rights as I have been living in CA for the last 15 years and have seen law after law get pushed through by some liberal or another restricting our rights as gun owners. I had no idea that this policy was becoming more common practice and do apologize for any offense. I still don't like it as I see it as a way of reinforcing the state law of a ten day wait period when we should be pushing to get rid of the wait period. I very much appreciate the FFL dealers who go out of their way to get you out of the 10 day wait period as soon as it is over. Thank you.

I, for one, will come in on closed days and release a firearm for a customer if they request. Most understand that we are a small shop with just myself and my husband operating the business, and really like some time off from working to enjoy our family, go shooting, etc... What I don't understand is FFL bashing.

Like many FFLs have posted, if you don't like the FFLs policies that you do business with, CHANGE your business to another. Enough said!

Wow, this is my last post on this thread if the moderators want to close it as I have already expressed my dislike for this store policy of 11 day wait. I am not bashing FFL dealers state wide. There are many great dealers that do so much for us customers. I have already stated I will be changing where I go. Thank you ammo girl for reminding I can do that, I must have forgotten. Wow.
