Letter posted here: http://www.infowars.com/exclusive-at...h-home-visits/
There is no law, they tried to codify this into law but CONgress removed the long gun tracking requirement from the bill: http://www.guns.com/gun-control-advo...e-funding.html
Apparently they don't need no stinking laws; they're gonna do it anyway for long guns AND handguns. Reports out of Texas indicate that ATF agents are visiting buyers of multiple long gun purchases at home...Comment

ATF is hosting that file online, http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-3310-12.pdf .
I note that it only applies to "semi-automatic rifles larger than .22 caliber (including .223/5.56 caliber) with the ability to accept a detachable magazine." IIRC, there is already an ATF letter that states that a rifle with a magazine lock like a Bullet Button does not have a detachable magazine. So, it would appear that only featureless rifles would fall under that reporting requirement
and that sentence is hard to understand, are they saying that .223/2.5.56 caliber rifles are included in the .22 caliber (and smaller) rifles that are not required to be reported, or are they saying that they have to be reported?Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

A dealer informed me the attempt indicates it is for any semi-automatic rifle and if they sell a stripped lower they will not report it because the stripped lower, at the time of sale, is of an unknown caliber (could be for a .22) and in it's current condition is not a semi-automatic.ATF is hosting that file online, http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-3310-12.pdf .

That is 100% correct. Anything that is not a semi-automatic, then it doesn't have to reported. Receivers are not semi-automatic, so what caliber they are or could be means nothing.A dealer informed me the attempt indicates it is for any semi-automatic rifle and if they sell a stripped lower they will not report it because the stripped lower, at the time of sale, is of an unknown caliber (could be for a .22) and in it's current condition is not a semi-automatic.
Now the question is what is a detachable magazine and more importantly what is "greater than .22". My definition of great than .22 is .23 and so .223 would not count, despite their little attemp with the parenthesis. If they want to be more specific, they need to state .220, but that brings .22 LR into the fold.
The ATF has issues.www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.Comment

yup, and they aren't even rifles. ATF said so when they ruled that 18-year olds couldn't buy stripped receivers.
here is the letter I was talking about the ATF saying that Bullet Button equiped rifles didn't have detachable magazines. Now the question is what is a detachable magazine
