eForm 4473 - keep instruction pages?

We're using ATF's eForm application to do the 4473 on a PC and I'm wondering if ATF requires FFL retention of pages 4-6 since they are just instructions on how to fill out the form. Anybody know?

I can't quote the actual law but I do remember reading that when I was checking-out the e4473. ALL pages must be printed and retained.

On the paper 4473 I was told to keep the instructions, but could 86 that blank page.

So do you see a real advantage to using the e4473 then if you have to cover the paper and ink costs to do so?

Obviously it costs something to print them on our laser printer. We have a notebook for them to fill it out as well but we already had it to use for this and other functions. The advantage to the eForm that I see is the client cannot make a mistake. The software won't allow an incomplete form or incorrectly formatted responses. Being from an IT background, I prefer electronic entry of everything.

One thing to watch for though is incorrect entry of information. Often I catch people entering nicknames or shortened versions of their full name on the computer. ID numbers are another source of trouble.

....but the software is TERRIBLE! How do you put up with it? I could NEVER get it to work right. On top of that, your average gun owner is barely tech savvy in my area so this would generate more problems than it would solve.

So far have had about 20 guys use it without issues, almost all of them CalGunners. Maybe they are more computer friendly than the average guy on the street.

Ignoring the cost, it is more of a pain to have the customer access the computer. Also, if you didn't have to print the instructions, it would make more sense (or if all the instructions could be printed on one page). You could save money by taking the instructions from the paper 4473 and attaching it to the printed version.
