    Type of FFL

Hey guys I'm looking into getting my FFL and I have a couple of questions. First what all is required for a C&R license? I don't collect old guns but have been collecting modern collectible firearms ie Magpul Lower receivers, and am interested in things such as Knights Armament limited numbered packages that they put together, are these considered C&R because they are numbered/limited and the fact that the price is significantly increased due to collectability?

Also what kind of an FFL do I need in order to receive stripped lower receivers, build them up from parts into CA compliant lowers or rifles and sale them?

Sorry for the ignorance guys, I just wanna go through this process once the right way, ya know.
Thanks for any input or help. You can pm me as well.

An 03 FFL (collector) is not difficult at all to get, but there is a process; Application/fingerprinting/fee, interview, background check.

Building lowers for resale requires an 07 FFL (manufacturer). There is much more to obtaining an 07/01 FFL. You must first, in addition to the Federal application, obtain all the local permits necessary for a business which specifically states your business license is "valid for retail sales of firearms". Different localities have different laws/ordinances regarding firearms, and it may very well be you will be unable to open such a business in your immediate area. Your first step for obtaining such licenses should begin with your local government. Inquire about the necessary licenses and permits for a firearms business. Once all the permits are obtained, then you may apply for the respective FFL.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Ah k thanks guys! The county I live in happens to be very pro gun but we'll see how true that is when I go to get my license. Also do you have to apply for each and every license separate or are there some that coincide? Are there any links/websites/people that can help walk you through the process or is it fairly self explanatory?

CA PC 12071 is your friend. You are going to want to read it...and know it. It's the first of many you will need to know.

Because of the differences in the localities, it's a journey you are going to have to make on your own. Each of the State licenses and permits have their own application and fee (of course). When you move along in the process if something stumps you just give a hollar here and most times you'll get a prompt and informative response.

From start to finish it will only take about 6 months in CA and $600.00 add for working on assault type firearms $300.00.
