This is why it's encouraged to do more business with FFLs that are helpful.
Personally, if an FFL does well by me, I purchase more items and return for more business. I'll buy a few hundred dollars worth of ammo when picking up my firearms, or even return to purchase firearms from their counter.
If an FFL tacks on "fees" or "service charges" or claims to need to charge each DROS in a multi gun PPT transaction (my recent interaction with AO Sword in El Cajon), then I avoid them and let my wallet speak.
That's why these small shops disappear. They try to take advantage of their customer base. Trying to justify their "fees" because they need money to stay open doesn't change the fact that it's wrong. Many single shop brick and mortar FFLs have survived without needing to tack on extra charges. If they want more money, they should take care of their customer base.

Safe handling fee?

Socialist thinking, borderline communist.FFLs can beetch all they want about having to charge extra fees for PPTs. Fact is you can't prevent me from taking my business to an FFL that doesnt charge extra fees. So dont act all butthurt when I do. You made a business decision and I made a consumer decision in response. Own the results.
All the FFLs I know that charge extra fees, also treat PPT customers like second class citizens. The FFLs that dont charge extra fees treat PPT customers as if they just bought $10k worth of merchandise. Coincidence? I think not. Charging extra fees is just a sign the FFL doesnt think much of their customers or their local 2A community.
Your problem is simple though, the less CA FFL's can make to stay open, the less decisions you get on who to go to. Like is said, I don't charge any extra fees but many smaller, brick and mortar FFL's in less populated areas need every dime to stay operative. When they disapear, all you will have is big box stores who can lobby to get prices raised, have less service and will then dictate the market for cost of guns.Leave a comment:

Again, that's what your own industry pushed for. Even then, the CA FFLs had to be smart enough to understand that they would be dealing with PPTs instead of other customers. Personally, every FFL I do business with is happy if I do a PPT at their shop. Many times, it results in another immediate sale or two for them and also brings in new potential customers. How much do you PAY for advertising per actual potential customer that crosses your threshold? Every PPT requires THREE potential customers to enter your shop and PAY YOU for the privilege. That may be true but that was then and this is now. If the state allowed for a decent price where we didn't actually LOSE money on a PPT, it wouldn't be such a big deal. Its not even the $10! Its dealing with the PPT while a customer who wants to buy a gun walks because the PPTer's don't have their sheet together.Leave a comment:

hahaha1st. Your sentance has poor grammer, as a result I have no idea what you are trying to say. It reads like an incoherent rant.
2nd. If an FFL charges extra fees to do PPTs, it simply tells me they dont care if people go elsewhere, hence they dont need my business. They are doing just fine without me.Leave a comment:

They WANTED to collect "up to $10" for every PPT. Now, they beach about it and try to victimize their customers because of what their own did to them. Yup, it was the typical short sighted FFLs who didn't push for any allowance for cost of living increases just like the Feds didn't push for any cost of living increases when they decided on a $200 tax stamp for NFA items.Leave a comment:

How many letters have you written to your State Senator or Assembly person to allow for a cost of living adjustment on the $10 an FFL gets for doing your PPT?
So, we have to raise wages for our employees but are forced to take a loss on PPT service? Don't be a socialist commie in favor of gun rights. Its a bad optic.

How many letters have you written to your State Senator or Assembly person to allow for a cost of living adjustment on the $10 an FFL gets for doing your PPT?About half of FFLs are charging extra fees on top of State mandated PPT fees calling them various things like "storage", "processing" etc... Usually $25-$30 per firearm. They wont even waive the fee if you buy a gun from them. It's nickel and dime bullchit to discourage PPTs.
Dont go there and dont buy guns from them. I hate to bad mouth FFLs cause we need as many as we can get but extra/unreasonable fees should not be tolerated.
I found a few FFLs that know what they are doing and dont charge bullchit fees. If I'm doing a lot of PPTs I'll buy a lower or some ammo to give them some business. I guess its good will/etiquette/karma.
