Totally OT but I did not know out of state interfamilial transfers were allowed to bring off-roster pistols into CA. Given the premium they command, I wonder why it isn't done more often? When given as a gift, how are they not considered straw man purchases?

Usually in gifting situations the suggestion I've heard is to give them a "gift certificate" that allows the recipient to purchase the firearm themselves.

Well, now you know. Entirely legal.

As to 'straw purchase', gifts are legal - read your 4473 instructions for question 11 a.

'More often' would require more out of state parents/children, as well as some information to the CA residents.

            Terrible misuse of "FUD".

FUD is a deliberate mis-statement, intended to benefit the speaker, i.e. 'Better buy this now, it'll be illegal in '

            Merely wrong is not FUD.

Thanks. It's a question that comes up every now and then in class, and now I can give a better answer.

Funny...all this time I thought FUD had a more vulgar translation.

And you can use this to bit of info to help your students let their favorite LGS know too.

I wrote this up for the Librarian for an FFL handbook.

                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
