FFL Only Forum

I only work at a gun shop and have an 03 FFL but I really like the fact that this subforum is open to all. I'd prefer to keep things the same because this forum provides insight into situations that are out of the norm. There was a situation regarding an ammo background check that I resolved from a random reading of a topic on this forum.
I understand a concern for privacy but if that's the case then posting your own FFL info on a publicly monitored forum may not conducive towards that goal nor does mentioning information about yourself that could be identified if someone took the time and effort to try to identify you.
I think if FFLs have a concern that should be handled privately, just PM regular users for this sub-forum. Leave any other concern for public view just so that those who may be curious or those that who don't necessarily meet the criteria of an licensee holder can potentially educate themselves with potential issues pertaining to CA DOJ.Leave a comment:

Every 01 or 07 has a CFD letter. (For verification)
I’d prefer a private forum only because some guys really do ask questions that should be answered in a private setting. We know DOJ monitors things here and it would be nice to give the ability for some to ask questions for situations that they may not know without telling the whole world that they don’t know.
Then there’s issues on how best to deal with customers too in a private setting without getting consumers here all riled up about how FFLs should run their business.
This would be a great service for CA FFLs IMHO. Thank You Calguns and Paul for considering this.Leave a comment:

Make two new category:
1. "Ask an FFL" - replace current FFL
2. "FFL only" - participating must be a contributor, display FFL only on contributor section and not public wide.Leave a comment:

I don't think EZ Check will be enough.I like renaming this forum to "Ask an FFL".
New forum should be visible from the main site that new members know that one exists, but should only be available to Commercial FFL / CFD Holders to read content or post.
FFLs can be verified through ATF FFL EZ Check, I'm not sure how a CFD can be verified by a non-FFL holder since CFLC is the only way that I know of to validate against the centralized list.
I have downloaded a list of Oregon FFLs from ATF - in excel, it has all the info EZ Check wants, as well as the rest of the license number, name, address, etc.
One who might wish to impersonate an FFL might do a similar download.Leave a comment:

The site could (I think) be password sensitive so only the FFL uses their own password.Leave a comment:

Inform they they are NOT to use the sight. If a problem arises, have them inform you and you broach the topic to the FFL Forum...Leave a comment:

Have the FFL holder go into CFARS and print out the employees under the ffl. That can be submitted with the FFL.Leave a comment:

Good idea ask an ffl. Posters should also include locale if asking for services. To many ask for services and then leave ffls to guess their location.Last edited by edgerly779; 08-01-2021, 4:03 PM.Leave a comment:

Give 01 their own area, 03 has the C&R forum. I would like to be able to read about the law problems. Also put it into the contribution section.Leave a comment:

I think you've pretty much nailed it. I would keep the criteria simple as too many options would complicate matters.
That said, an 03 is pretty much a self-serving enterprise. I think their questions and answers could easily be handled in the "Ask an FFL" forum. It is we 01's that tend to run into odd ball situations that are more appropriately be answered by other 01's.Leave a comment:
