    Buying with “federal limits apply”

Long story short, I messed up and forgot to renew my license for a while. Now my license says FLA.

How can I tell if my birth certificate is the correct one for PPT? I believe it’s supposed to be the “long form” or whatever the term is? A cursory search tells me the long form has signatures from the nurse and your parents birth place listed, or something else oddly specific? What am I looking for?

My birth certificate is only about 1/2 a page and does have nurse signature and parents birth place, meanwhile my wife’s is half and says abstract without that info.

    Any directions?

It sounds like you have the ones given out by the hospital as a keep sake.

You need to get a certified copy from the county recorder. If you live in the county you were born in your should be able to walk out the same day with it, depending on when you were born.

If you're too far away from the county you were born in you should be able to get a certified copy by mail. Check the website of the country recorder for the instructions.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

You don't have any other forms of ID?

Get long form certified copies of birth certificates for everyone in your immediate family (wife/kids/you). Better to have them before you need them.

And tell them you need the version that makes governments happy; we had certified copies for our son, and it was rejected, and the damned office (I have forgotten which one or for what purpose) would not tell us what was wrong with it so we could tell the out of state county!

I have a hunting license but my passport is old. Never thought I would need a passport to identify myself in my own nation.

The process to obtain a REAL DL/ID requires documentation that the applicant is legally in the USA.

The process to obtain a FLA DL/ID does not require documentation that the applicant is legally in the USA.

Since 1968, Federal laws have prohibited non-exempt non-USA citizens from obtaining/possessing firearms in the USA.

Which is why, in order to legally acquire firearms, additional documentation is required for a person with a valid FLA DL/ID to prove they are legally in the USA.
