    Handgun purchase question

    Hello

I'm trying to purchase a handgun and I just moved.

My drivers license and my vehicle registrations do not match my new address.

Am I SOL until I update my info or are there alternatives?? Its really a pain in the *** to get a new driver's license because of all this corona business.

I assume that you have updated your address in DMV records, but don't have a hard license with your current address.

To satisfy federal requirements, you need a government-issued document with your current address on it. Easily obtainable government-issued documents with current addresses are car registration from California DMV, a H-6 driving record from California DMV, voter registration confirmation from the county Registrar of Voters, or a utility bill from a government-owned utility. Los Angeles's Department of Water and Power, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, the Imperial Irrigation District, and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission are examples of government-owned utilities. PG&E, SDG&E, SoCal Edison, and SoCal Gas, are all examples of privately-owned utilities.

If you can find a self-serve DMV kiosk, I believe you can get a H-6 driving record from it. You can also get one online, though I don't know if it will be official looking enough for a store to take.

To satisfy California requirements, refer to the list from the California Department of Justice website at https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/dlrfaqs#14G

For my loooooong answer about all of this, refer to this post.

If you're in Southern California, DMV has actually been a lot smoother because everything is appointment based. Just set an appointment and get it done.

It doesn’t have to be your vehicle registration. You can bring in a combo of documents to prove residency and address that will satisfy both DOJ and ATF. For the feds it has to be government document. Maybe a city dog permit? And your gas bill at the new residence would work. There’s lots of documents you can get. If you just moved? Did you buy? If so bring your grant deed. That will work. Maybe a city owned utility bill such as “LA dept of water and power”

Others have posted that the DIY ones at home won't work because you don't have the "water mark" paper with the correct state seal on it.
            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
