A friends cousin just died. He and his wife had been living out of state.



When cleaning out one of the homes owned in California several firearms were discovered. The wife of the deceased did not want to keep any of the firearms, she wants to pass them on to other family members. She lives out of state, the family members she wants to give the firearms to are all in California.



These firearms were all purchased no later than 1983. most are off roster handguns.



What advice can I provide as to transfer of ownership of these firearms that have never left California from the wife/heir to other family that are not children?

I will also post there. It seemed that since the question involves interstate intrafamilial issues that there are federal issues involved, not just California issues. That is why I posted here.

Only if seller has ca id. And must be ftf. Likely have to lie to do it. If seller left them here in someone elses control then they are likely not his anymore. Lots of issues with this transaction.

As answered in your other thread, would have to be an interstate transfer, and Roster restrictions would apply.
