    Intrafamilial Transfer Delays

Are any of you seeing delays in the Intrafamilial transfer. I did one in December and I had the printed verification in 4 days. I have one still pending from March 26th.

May not be related but whenever I submit a 4100A form to DOJ (Report of C&R acquisition) it normally takes 2-3 months to get verification back from them.

Was it for a rifle by chance?
Also they're behind because of the covid situation.

Unless you need to add that gun to a CCW, or sell it in the near term, the paper acknowledgement is not required. (Sometimes one needs the gun to appear correctly in AFS)

The OPLAW form and the CFARS function document a transfer that has already occurred. PC 27975(c)
        (c) Within 30 days of taking possession of the firearm, the person to whom it is transferred shall forward by prepaid mail, or deliver in person to the Department of Justice, a report that includes information concerning the individual taking possession of the firearm, how title was obtained and from whom, and a description of the firearm in question. The report forms that individuals complete
pursuant to this section shall be provided to them by the Department of Justice.
You've done all that is required of you if you submit the form and fee.

Can this be done using CFARS if an account is created?

Or is paper a better option?

And can you point me and future readers to the right form?

            Yes, through:

            CFARS
            -CRIS
            -Intrafamilial Transfer

Electronic maybe faster at submission, but confirmation is probably the same.

Sure. CA-DOJ has a whole page of downloadable forms here: https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/forms

The specific one for Intrafamilial transfer is

Report of Operation of Law or Intra-Familial Firearm Transaction (BOF 4544A) The link actually has "OPLAW" in it.

Thanks Librarian! As always, you come through.

Thanks all. I did it via CFARS as a guest and not under my account. I did not think it would matter. But under my account it took 4 days, as a guest it has taken almost 90 with no answer. They did respond a few weeks ago that they had it. It is for CCW, but my renewal already came thru so I will have to go thru the process of adding it, just a PIA. I will always use the CFARS account in the future.

They responded electronically or snail mail?

I emailed them and then called. If you email them you get a form letter basically saying unless it’s been 90 days don’t bother them.

Does an intrafamilial transfer punt as a PPT?

                          Uh, whut? punt=count, maybe?

An in-CA intrafamilial transfer does not run through a FFL, so it cannot be a PPT.

                              I have a CFARS account.

Recently my son, who turned 21, acquired his FSC and I want to transfer a handgun to him. We both live in Calif.

Can my CFARS account be used for an intrafamilial transfer with his info or does he have to open his own account?

Couldn't find any info on CFARS page(s)
