I had to go back to the place where my FSC was issued. When I did, they informed me that only the person who signed my card could make adjustments. Went back the next day when that person was on shift and they were able to take care of it.

Only the person that originally issued your FSC can correct it. Also, it doesn't matter where they are currently employed assuming they still have access to FSC system. Just an FYI in the event the person works at a "new" store when you find out you need this done.UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales

Doubt that’s the issue. They FIRST go off your drivers license/ID.So I went down to my local gun shop and purchased a new hand gun. I already own a gun that I purchased 10 years ago. 2 days into my 10 day waiting period DOJ sent back a denied form. There is no reason I should have been denied so I started doing my research and found this post. I am a “jr” and believe this has to be the reason. My my FSC was made out First Name, Suffix, Last Name. My DROS paper work was filled out First Name Suffix Last Name. Now I’m out a 100$ restock fee. What should I do? What is the correct way to fill it out so I don’t have it get denied again. Thanks I’m advance
Just because you bought a gun 10 years ago doesn’t mean much. Even misdemeanors that you think is no big deal can trigger a denial. Possible restraining orders you think are gone can also trigger a denial.Comment

Both the Federal and state systems are sorely lacking in congruency. Seldom do they do things the same way and their record systems are filled with human error.
Case in point; a customer of mine (59 Y/O) states he had purchased several guns over the years. His last purchase was delayed. Come to find out he had a (N.J.) misdemeanor when he was 18. There'd been no hick-ups for 41 years.
He's been delayed for the last three purchases. They were all eventually "Undetermined" and the firearms were eventually released to him.
Later we found out the Fed's had made some system changes but failed to update the dismissal of the N.J. charges.
Sometimes one has to think that when dealing with the DROS sysytem it's like you dealing with the IRS...........American soldier by choice. Made in America by the Grace of God.
So, now it is ironic that the State whittles away at the right of its citizens to defend themselves from the possible oppression of their State.

Also my cousin who is also a JR ran into the same issue where they submitted and got denied. He knew the owner of the gun shop at the time and owner submitted again moving the “jr” got denied again. Moved the jr again and it went thru that time. My cousin doesn’t remember the actual format in which he submitted that finally got approved or I wouldn’t need to post this threadComment

The dealer needs to submit what is on your DL. Is that correct? If so, there's only 2 places they might place the jr. Either immediately after your last name if it was on your FSC that way or in the "suffix" field.
There's only 2 options, but again only if it's on your DL would they do that.
Did you get a DMV Reject or a Prohibited Denial? They are 2 different types of denials. I can see a "jr" misplacement triggering a DMV Reject, but if it's triggering a prohibted denial then someone with the same or similar name as you has a criminal record and DOJ is confusing the 2 of you regardless of how the DROS was submitted.
You can always do the livescan appeals process with CA DOJ too to try and clear things up.UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales

The DMV website format of a DL has nothing to do with the CA DOJ DROS system.
Sadly the letter you get won't tell you "exactly why you were denied".. It'll say you are prohibited and then you have to start a crappy inefficient process of contacting CA DOJ to get more info.
It's not like the letter you get will say "We found a record in Los Angeles County showing you are a felon" or anything remotely close to that.
Good luck in getting it sorted out.. It took 1 of my customers about 18 months to get the felony that CA DOJ associated to him removed. Now his record is all good again and he was finally able to pick up his lowers..UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales

Sorry, I don't know what information you get back after you submit the livescan. I do think it's the only way for you to start the appeals process and I'm not sure if you have to wait for your denial letter or not. The customers I've had do it didn't start the process until after they had received their denial letters.UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales

A wild thought.
In addition to starting the appeals process, contact your State and Federal Representative (unless they are openly anti-gun) and see if they can help.
Might as well get them provide you a service, after all - aren't they our servants???.Comment

I recently purchased some ammo at Big 5. As usual I told them they'll have to run my DROS with no suffix (my FSC has no suffix, my license does).
The clerk balked at first, but I explained I had purchased ammo multiple times at the store.
She said that it's fine for ammo, but that they wouldn't be able to sell me a gun since my FSC didn't show my suffix.
Meanwhile, Sportsman's Warehouse said the opposite: They wouldn't sell me a gun as long as my FSC showed my Jr. suffix.
Seems each company has their own policy. If you have a suffix, you probably want to call the store you're going to and get it straight before you go in hoping to buy.Comment

This is simple:
If a field ask for suffix-enter it.
If is does't (IE last Name) don't enter it.
FSC system does not have a suffix field.
DROS does.
For any dealer who says the suffix is not on the FSC.....it does not ask for it. If the are inputting it last name they are creating incorrect FSC's.Comment
