But nobody can find an actual letter or ruling on that do you have one? I keep hearing that ATF says it's okay but nobody can show me something that ATF is actually issued that says it's okay

Actually, you have it backwards, a letter is needed saying that it isn't acceptable. The "letter" saying that it is acceptable is the C&R list which matches with the firearm, all serial numbers. It doesn't list conditions or limits.

For it not to be considered a C&R. the C&R list would need to be changed and so far it hasn't and it would take time to change it.

A local ATF can't change the opinion, it comes from Washington DC office which makes the determination.

The question is simple, does the firearm match with what is on the list. There are no limits listed, so no limits exist. Perhaps you could say that it is a bad entry as it matches more than perhaps it should, but if that is the case, then again, it needs to be changed, which will take months to do. Until it is changed, it matches.

Exactly! ATF already has told us by whats on the list how to determine the issue. There is no need for them to double down on their meaning.

Can anyone expand on this for me? I just went through a DOJ audit and the field rep said they have the authority to review A&D records when I questioned her about it. I provided them and it didn't seem to affect the outcome, but if I'm not required to provide them, I might like to exercise that option.

            Thanks,

Basically it's an ATF requirement to keep the document. What is the DOJ person looking for? How do they know if you filled it out correctly? Do they know if you can have an e-copy vs physical copy, etc...

I don't show it because the last thing I need is to find out I had a typo on the person's name they are comparing to the DROS and then they try to write me up on something.

For example, our A&D we typically log a person's full name as they specify on their 4473. That might not be the exact thing on their DL.

Don't always believe what they say. It is a Federal document and as far as I know, they have no right to see it. They can cause problems if they get upset though. Ask them where it allows them to access federal records.

                    Necrobump:

So, did anyone attempt to buy a new Colt GCNM with their FFL03, out of state and bring it back and register in CA?

                    What was your result?
