    Sales tax on a PPT?

I did a PPT today and the dealer charged sales tax.

Not on the purchase price of the gun I bought but on the $10 that is their profit.

It wasn't a lot but I've never been charged tax for this dealer provided "service". And, from what I know about taxes; "services" and labor isn't taxable.

    Has something changed?

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

There shouldn’t be any tax on that $10. Businesses like that is a red flag for me. One and done.

There is only sales tax on the transfer fee if there is sales tax on the firearm.

A CA PPT can be subject to sales tax if the FFL gets involved in finding the buyer and/or seller or gets involved in the purchase price.

None of that happened in this transaction.

            What he said [emoji1369]

If they are being deceptive on this 10$ fee, wonder what else they are up to.

You can't say that they are being deceptive as it could be that they are just ignorant of all the laws.

Coming to a BOE (or whatever it is now) audit near you.

If they think they can demand sales tax on an interstate transfer, or the 2x4;s used by a contractor, they certainly deserve 8 cents on top of a PPT. What;s next, gunsmithing labor?
