Insanity at the CA DOJ

Ok, so this is a bit of a rant at how stupid the CA DOJ is, which most know, although I will admit some there have a brain.

I have been trying to get them to fix the CFARS site to allow me to use my business email address which as a "-" in it (which is a valid email character). I keep getting the run around from saying to use another email address, to providing them with proof that it is a problem that they know about, etc. It is clear that they either don't want to fix the problem with the email addresses or that they are unable to do so.

But today I got a bit of a laugh. I renewed my COE and was able to use my unacceptable email address for the copy of the receipt for paying for my COE and I did actually receive it. So at times I can use my business email address, but other times I can't. Typical.

That happens to me all the time with my email. Its like if its not gmail they don't want it...tracking I guess.

It just amazes me that they don't have a clue as to what characters are valid for email and that they should even fix it.

I found the same problem early on and brought it to their attention. At that time you could speak to a real "technician". He said it was the fault of the type of program they were using that it could not recognize certain characters.
Good thing we're not still using DOS...

It is the CFARS which is broken, so it shouldn't take the DES down.

They are screwed up. My CEFFL renewal came a month or so back and said the amount owed was 0. Works for me, So I sent it in with no $$.
Got a reply right quick with a form apology letter and a new bill.
The right hand does not know what the left is doing over there.

It does surprise me that the CA DOJ has really made it easier to renew the COE. Of course, it really would be nice if they sent an email notice when you had updates in the account, but they do have to do something to be not as it should be.

Way back when I signed up for a .info domain name. At the time I was surprised at the number of registration and company sites that could not accept a 4 position TLD in an email address.
