Which FFLs accept online ammo purchase deliveries?

Probably should be a sticky sorta like the FFL list.

But here's why they don't want to deal with your online order.

1. They want to sell the ammo they already invested money into, the return on ammo is very very negligible, so they are discouraging your online order by charging more to do the transfer, that way you just buy from them.
2. They may charge more because of the extra staffing involved, not just the dude who hands you the ammo, its the phone calls, emails, dealing with your shipper, unboxing your ammo, logging it into their POS system so they can run the sale, the extra time to prepare sales tax payments or worse audits from the BOE (or whatever they are calling themselves these days)
3. They flat out refuse because that particular service just doesn't fit into their business model. Just because the law requires the ammo to go to an ammo vendor doesn't mean they have to deal with it.

It depends on what is said. I suspect it would be rather low, but on the off chance it is reasonable, then yes.

I asked my LGS about special ordering ammo. They suggested to order it myself and have it shipped to them. They charge $5 to accept a ammo delivery and do the paperwork. Hard to believe they aren't loosing money at $5. Maybe the impulse buys once your in the store make up for the low fee?

They are also a great supporter/sponsor of the local shooting sports

Remember that since it goes through the business, sales tax applies as well, which can be a problem if the business doesn't realize that.

People who order ammo online usually fall into one of three categories:

1) high rollers who buy in bulk and need 5-50K of milsurp ammo freighted in for big shoots

2) oddballs who need 25 rounds of some obscure cartridge that has to be hand built (like 2 bore rifle rounds or paradox bullets)

3) Cheap bastards (bargain hunters) guys who are trying to save money by ordering stuff online 500-5k rounds of cheap ammo at a time. (for the record I fall into this category so not hating)

The high roller doesn't really have to ask how much it costs, (its probably going to be waived as a courtesy anyway with how many guns etc he buys at the shop)

The Oddball is paying $5 to $50 a shell anyway so he doesn't care (and honestly it will probably get waived as well if he brings in something really interesting for the shop to play show and tell with)

And the Cheap Bastard usually is the guy who burns up your employee time with PPTs, who bargain hunts for promotional items and loss leaders but doesn't pick up anything else in the store, who makes sure to order all his accessories and cleaning equipment online (and ammo) and really doesn't contribute significantly to the bottom line of a business.

If your calling to ask how much it costs, the store probably is like "Oh a cheap bastard, well we really don't want this guy anyway"

If you swing by and happen to ask in person after developing a relationship or customer history with the staff I suspect you would find it to be a different story, particularly if it was not the sole focus of your trip.

I think #3 describes most CGNers to the point I ask people I buy from or sell to not to mention CGN when doing a PPT. I have traits of #3 but a few select non PPT crybaby good FFL's get a lot of other extra business from me too if they have an active consignment and used gun area. I rarely have guns shipped in and no ammo yet.

It pays to shop around and places you have an established relationship with as mentioned may do it for cheap or free. I knew of 1-2 places in SoCal doing it for cheap or free as long as policy wasn't abused. Like ordering mass quantities and not inforning the shop and taking a long time to pick it up, things like that.
