How difficult/easy is it to obtain a FFL?

What kind? Collector (03), pawnbroker, ammo dealer, firearms dealer, manufacturer....
03FFL is simple a matter of applying and sending in your $30.
If you are not a prohibited person, it will be issued.
The other types will require a business license.- Rich

It all depends on where you live. It can be difficult to impossible.
For example. in LA County, excluding specific cities, you can not have a home based business in which customers come to the house. i used to live in LA County, but in a City which farmed out the permits to LA County. While it is legal, if not for the help of the person at the Sheriff's department, I would have had major problems since the LA County office did not want to give me the application until I told them that I had his phone number and he said to call if there were any issues. The woman called someone and said that I had his number and asked what to do. She gave me the application.
In some places a condition use permit is required and that can be quite expensive, as well as time consuming.

03 FFL plus California Certificate of Eligibility.
Total cost for both including the Livescan is around $120, renewal is $22/year for the COE and $30 every 3 for the FFL.
The elephant in the room is, yes, it exempts you from the new law, but how many vendors will accept that exemption?
Worst case, we may still end up having to (legally) drive to AZ or NV to buy ammo.- Rich
