Try different browsers. Some websites don't like Chrome, others don't like Firefox, some don't like Netscape Navigator, etc.

How are you getting to the DOJ website??

What application are you using to browse the web?

If nothing opens, then either their web server is down or your connection is. Since you are posting this and considering the past track record, odds are it is them. It appears to be one server since all are down at the same time.

Also, please spell Robert Anson Heinlein's name properly in your sig.

I'm currently experiencing the same problem. A few days ago the CFARS site worked but would not let me sign on and displayed a banner on top saying the website is down. Now it just won't load at all.

                I'm entering https://cfars.doj.ca.gov
just as it says in the renewal letter. Tried a couple different browsers and no go.
Man, this place has gone bonkers.

Won't work on cell phone or iPad. DOJ says it's my firewall. Hooey. My guess is it will start working in a few days right after they remember to feed the monkey.

Well looks like the CFARS systems is down as well.

OP, you can try to access the CFARS system to renew your COE as well.

You can give peace a chance...
