Agreed, but heres the thing, we are saying this on Calguns, Facebook, Signage here inside the shop and when every customer calls. We don't want ANYBODY to have the excuse of I didn't know. We are going through every means of communication to be sure everyone knows whats up. I figure a pubic forum will be the best place since a lot of our customers are calguns people too. Shop facebook goes out to everyone whos our friend and signs have been posted about new law changes since August.

No bet. We are already blocking off time on the schedule on the 22nd to contact the vendors who shipped the guns to us to get a return label sent out. If they don't do it or it sits around until 31st it will be going to Arizona! (This is for the new "assault weapons with BBs, obviously a receiver is not an AW only BB guns are the ones who will be dealt with)

For ARs, you could just take the upper off of it and then it no longer would be considered a so-called a-salt weapon.

I'm more worried about stuff like the odds stuff like Sub 2k's and AK's and the oddball BB shotguns. Customer agreement pages are sweet things to have (-:

One option, to give yourself more time, is to transfer the firearm to yourself, which then there is no waiting period (depending on how your business is organized), then you can get them out of state after 01-Jan.

Did you happen to notice the wording difference for shotguns? I am not sure of what it means, but for handguns and rifles the bulletin mentions "fixed magazine", whereas for the shotgun it mentions "detachable". The term "fixed magazine" is defined, but detachable is not. I am not sure of what the law is, but often it is a mess, so I wonder if shotguns fall under the same law in regards to a bullet button.

We did notice shotguns and I had that discussion today actually. We are under the impression that they will lump those in as well. I could DROS to myself but I didn't want the headache of "you stole my gun" crap to deal with.

UPDATE: 12-2-16 - If your sending FFL has chicken scratch handwriting and we can't read your phone number we cant call you. We guessed three times and still didn't get the right person on the phone.

DONT CALL US WHEN USPS UPS OR FEDEX shows that your package was delivered 5 minutes ago. Let us log it in and call you, these calls make us stop what we are doing, and they ruin the image and the style that we're used to. (yes that was a digital underground reference if anybody knows)

Lastly I want to address something that we've been asked a bunch of times since we "stopped" taking online orders for AW's. We have had plenty of people offer to pay more than our usual transfer fee. Even upwards of $100 each (4 times our fee) to take your guns and we've refused all of them for a few reasons:
1. Integrity, we had to stop because we cant process you all for sure before 21st.
2. We aren't the kind of people who are going to price gouge. Then get flamed for it after the fact. Our fees are our fees regardless of the situation.
3. Its not fair for the dozens, approaching hundreds who we've told no to.
4. We still want to do a quality job for everyone who comes in here. Fast, efficient and knowledgeable staff is what we're known for and we want to keep it that way. We don't want lines like the big retailers have.
5. We're still a business that isn't just gun transfers. We still have to take care of our non firearm customers who will still be around after the end of the year.

Yes, it would be nice to make some extra cash, but that's not what we are about here. We've always been the lowest price for a reason. We are 2A supporters and want to get guns to people who want to buy them, we never got into the gun business to make a fortune. This is a service to our community and we've always seen it this way. We all remember being on the other end looking for an FFL to use. Now that we are one we want to be cool as possible. Making enough to cover costs and a few extra bucks is it. Thanks. lots of you get it some aren't.

On 12-22-16 we blocked off a few hours in the am to go through the ones that didn't get DROS'd. Then we will call all the vendors who shipped them here and request a return label. If we get them before 12-31-16 they will go out in the am or to the UPS/ FedEx hub. Receivers will stay put along with anything that is not effected by the new legislations.

The firearms that we can't get out because of a return label will be sent to a cooperating FFL in AZ and the customers can either pay his middleman fee and parts and labor to make their guns 2017 compliant and return them. Or they can deal with him and his costs to get the firearms returned to their original vendor for a refund and he will still be charging a middleman fee.

On the 22nd we will be calling everyone who No-showed and explain more. On or about 15th we will be calling everyone who hasn't DROS'd or doesn't have an appointment set to give everyone a "last chance" heads up to come in and get your DROS started.

Has there been any talks about just disassembling firearms? If disassembled prior to 2017 then they were never AW and just receivers in 2016. I know we cannot disassemble them in 2017 because then we are converting AW.

My question on that is how could we go from a rifle in the book to a receiver once it comes time to sell it? I understand disassembling for cal doj but does this mean we are able to sell them to a customer after 2017 as a receiver?

Of course all this would have to happen before the ball drops on NYE.

Same thoughts and we can't get any answers from anyone. Wish the DOJ would help dealers comply with the law.
