Alright guys, so when I made this post I was In the heat of the moment. It was very selfish of me to make such a post in light of current events, I feel like a serious ******* right now. I do apologize to anyone that got offended by my post.

We all understand heat of the moment stuff. I personally am happy you posted, even with all that.

I think this is a great post - highlighting a very unique situation. Hopefully this thread can shed light on the situations of other people, should someone else find themselves in the same predicament and seeking answers.

        Any followup?

If the FFL was "Tin Star Supply". The proprietor "yzernie" is a Calgunner.

Thankfully he and his family, pets, animals are all OK. And he is moving evacuated stock back into the store.

Lots of businesses and people in the Oak Hills/Hesperia area weren't so lucky.

I was just directed to this thread by a friend.

Although I have no idea of the identity of "5.5Merc" I'm pretty sure I know who this is and the fact that this thread was about me and our business. I feel compelled to reply.

          - Yes, he had a $2000 rifle sent here for transfer and the DROS was in the 10 day window.

          - Yes, I was forced to evacuate.

          - Yes, during the evacuation I removed all customer guns first, then inventory guns and then our personal guns. In the event I was not able to get all of the guns out ALL of the customer guns were the first into the evac vehicle(s). I would have left our own here to burn before I would have left any customer's property. It took me hours to frantically get things boxed up and loaded.

          - Yes, I did not sleep at all while evacuated. I had a lot of inventory that, although locked in a trailer, required constant protection. I allowed my wife and family the opportunity to rest while I stood watch. Not complaining about that, just the harsh reality of wanting to protect a very valuable product(s).

          - Yes, I did not answer the business phone...because I was out of the business AND the phone lines were burned.

          - Yes, and by the grace of luck, our business did not burn. It got damn close though. When I left for the last time the fire was close enough that I could feel the heat from it.

          - Yes, we were eventually allowed back. It took hours more to unload all of the business items and reestablish them in their proper places.

          - Yes, my loving family allowed me to unload and attend to business things before our attending to our own so I could try to get the business back on schedule for releases, purchases and paperwork.

          - Yes, and with very few exceptions, I am lucky to have customers who were understanding of our situation.

          - Yes, had I seen this thread before the pick up day I would have said something to you about your insensitivity towards the situation. I left here the last time with the fire bearing down upon us, no fire personnel anywhere to be seen anywhere in the area and believing I would return to a pile of ashes and just memories of what we had built together.

          - Yes, I would continue to do business with you despite my personal belief that your own selfishness overrode your common sense and compassion for a fellow human being.

All that said, may God Bless America

Well put. And, let me chime in here too. I know in times of need people step up and help out. And, from the sound of this I'm sure another FFL would have had no problem helping out should the physical business been harmed in the fire. He could have transferred his inventory over as suggested and I'm sure somebody in the area would have helped out to get him going again. I know we would have done what we could to help...... Sorry bud you had to deal with the process and I'm glad you didn't lose property or worse. I drove up through there a couple days after everything opened back up and it was devastating. To see the poles where power and phone lines were lying charred on the ground with crews working tirelessly was unreal. Lots of people lost everything there.

Hey, OP did apologize for his, perhaps, overstated concern at the possible loss of A 2k investment. I'm for giving the guy some slack. And, a potential 2k loss ain't nothing to sneeze at. My take was he was just trying to find out his options...

That said, I truly understand "yzernie"'s feelings. Been there twice. The evacuation of one's labor and investment is frightening and heart-wrenching!

If it is who I believe it is, I completely understand his concern. I would have been too and I have no problem with that mindset. I do have concern with his delivery of it. We pay out the azz for hideously priced insurance that would have covered his item but I'm more old school than leaving a customer's property here to be destroyed.

No worries though, he got his rifle safe and sound.
