    FFL help.

Hi fellow calgunners, I had a really quick and urgent question to the FFL dealers here and would love to get some feedback.
Ok guys, so I have a gun being drosed as we speak. 10 days are up on Thursday, however there's a major issue. The place it's being drosed at might have to evacuate before that due to that goddamn blue cut fire . My question is, assuming my dealer does have to evac, how long do you guys think my gun will be in limbo? And godforbid, incase his shop goes up, and my gun goes up with it, will I be SOL? I ask this question because I had purchased my gun from a FFL out of state and it was only shipped to this FFL, it wasn't purchased here.

Your gun will be in limbo until the FFL can let you re-DROS it unless you can get in there before your 30 days on the first DROS expires. I'm not sure if you were referring to 8/18 as Thursday or 8/25, but you have 20 more days after that to pick it up.

If it burns up you'll be SOL and need to file a claim with the FFL and hopefully his insurance covers it. It'll be a civil matter at that point.

Well crap. Just my luck that in the final 2 days of my dros, this dumb fire would Start. Can't say im surprised, dumb things like this are always happening to me. So what it seems like, i could be out of my 2k rifle, with potentially no recourse.. awesome.

Well depending how you paid for the rifle some CC companies provide buyer protection / extended warranties. That might be an option.

If the FFL hasn't evac'd yet and you are really worried you can ask him to ship it out of town to another FFL. So what if it restarts your 10 day wait if it saves your 2k investment.

I wouldn't worry just yet. Your DROS is good for 30 days. If I read your OP correctly you are at the end of your 10 day not your 30 day. If given enough time the shop with move the firearms when they evac so hopefully your property will be safe.
You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.
Incoming fire has the right of way.

His phone isn't being answered so im almost certain he did evac, I should have called earlier yesterday but I was in Vegas, didn't find out about the fire until like 8pm yesterday. Well after the mandatory evacuation orders were giving out. Im really hoping he evac'd himself and his family out first, along with his inventory. I really don't mean to sound selfish here either, its just I spent 2k on this damn rifle, and I really don't want to lose it.

This Thursday the 18th my 10 days are up, so I still have 21 days from today. But my main two concerns are, 1: God forbid this happens but what if his store burns down? he won't be able to transfer my rifle out to me until he rebuilds, which could take months to Years. 2nd issue is: what if the gun burns with the store and he doesn't have insurance? I'm beyond screwed then.

Also, if his store does go up, can he transfer to antother FFL? Or is it stuck with him because he did the dros?

He can send it to another FFL at any time.

Patience is your friend in this instance. Sorry for your troubles though. . . . .Hopefully the winds will blow in the right direction.

Good to see your heart is in the right place. Pray for those in danger or who have already lost property, give thanks to those fighting the fire, then trust in your FFL having insurance. Sorry to hear you are being inconvenienced by waiting beyond your 10 days while thousands of others are being evacuated.

                        1. If his store burns and he still has the rifle he can transfer the rifle to another FFL and the other FFL will transfer it to you.

                        2. If in the very off chance his shop does burn and the stock burns also then it will be a civil issue between you and the shop. Just FYI I spent years deploying to fires and floods. If there is time ATF will go to a shop in danger and remove all of the stock and the paperwork for safe keeping.

Lol as I have been told many times I do lack patience, but you are right, patience is key in this case. Thanks for the input.

Maybe the heat of the moment got to me when I posted, but I certainly don't want to be a dickhead about this whole situation. I apologize if you felt offended by my post, I had no intention of doing such a thing.

Let's hope for the best and pray his shop will be ok, along with the whole community for that matter. Thanks for the input.
