We had a guy ship a shotgun in a fluorescent lightbulb box and one piece of bubble wrap barely around the receiver. Amazing that it showed up intactNever initiate force against another. not a ffl but i understand getting things in with no info. how come you dont have a policy that states if this info is not with the gun there is a $x amount fee or like the other guy said a storage fee and just set it to the side? sooner or later the buyer will show up if he still wants it he will pay. one of my friends i know calls it a idiot fee.Comment

I think the main problem is the gun just can't sit on the shelf. It needs to be logged into the bound book. A copy of the owners drivers license is easiest. The info on the package may not be enough if the owner shipped it using a business account without his personal name, address, etc on the package. I've done a couple transfers via Ace and they have it together. I'd hate to lose them as a source because idiots can't follow directions.not a ffl but i understand getting things in with no info. how come you dont have a policy that states if this info is not with the gun there is a $x amount fee or like the other guy said a storage fee and just set it to the side? sooner or later the buyer will show up if he still wants it he will pay. one of my friends i know calls it a idiot fee.Comment

You log it with the information that you have. It might not be ideal, but it is acceptable to the BATF, if not the FFL.Kemasa.

Lol, this week was shipment hell!
Was there a memo that went out that I missed that said you have to wrap every gun in 3 lbs of plastic wrap? I have peanuts all over the shop and thanks to a dust storm that killed a garbage can my parking lot is full of peanuts.
The next person who ships me a gun in a sea of peanuts is getting a return package spring loaded with broken up packing peanuts and glitter.
You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.
Incoming fire has the right of way.

Do it. I saw a youtube where the dude got a spring loaded canister with glitter delivered to his office.
You wont. I Just needed to rant. That day we had something like 30 guns come in total that day and I just lost my ish when the package came in. It was one of those days.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

I know this thread is getting kinda old now, but does anyone know of an FFL around the Sacramento area that will accept shipments from a private party like this? But packaged correctly, I mean.
I'm trying to get a shotgun from someone near LA, he's willing to ship to an FFL of my choice, but of the FFLs I've checked with, one wouldn't do it, and two others were adamant that it was extremely illegal.
I didn't feel like arguing with them and coming off as a jerk, so now I'm hoping to find an FFL that is willing to accept such a shipment.

Have you tried Golden State Tactical?Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. If you won't a competitor will but I feel your pain. I hate packing peanuts. I also tell buyers to stay in contact with their FFL and I always include a copy of my ID.
I don't sell many guns but I ship long guns myself. I generally use a FFL for handguns. You can't fault someone for using lots of tape and bubble wrap especially on expensive guns.
There was a thread about packing guns on the C&R forum before. It was funny and interesting. I mentioned how I use stuff like a Spanish language gay and lesbian magazine and copies of the Final Call and other Black newspapers to wrap items for my more difficult customers haha.Comment

I hadn't heard of them until you mentioned them.
Last place I knew with that name (or similar) was in Roseville on Douglas Blvd. The last week they were there, the guys there told me that the owner was moving it to San Diego.
I'll hit them up tomorrow morning. Hopefully they can make this deal happen.Comment
