Did they say the CA PC? From what I recall the thumbprint is required when the DROS is submitted, not at delivery.

CA PC 28160(b) seems to indicate that they want it at the start.

I called to ensure that I was doing things correctly and what I ended up being told is that you just have to get the thumbprint sometime. You can do it at the start or you can do it before delivery BUT remember if the person is denied and you did not get the thumbprint at the start then you will NEVER get it. I was told that you don't have to get it each time (start and delivery), just that you have to have it with the paperwork.

CA PC 28215 talks about at time of delivery and it does not mention the thumbprint, just giving a copy after it has been signed by both the transferee and the FFL.

      Kemasa.
False signature edited by Paul: Banned from the FFL forum due to being rude and insulting. Doing this continues his abuse.

no she couldn't recall the PC but stated it was only required before or at delivery, but your mention of being denied and not having it is a good reason for me to start having it on both to cover all bases. yes the PC 28215 states that a signature is required but no mention of thumb print, i looked more after talking to her for the context that says a thumb print is required and all i could find was past threads about field reps asking for the thumb print on the front of the paper rather than on the back as the PC at the current time stated. needless to say i couldn't find any actual reference to it online.

I was told that you don't need it on both, but remember if you do it on both, then you need to make a copy after they sign it and after the thumbprint. I think it is easier to just print a second copy and have them sign both. If I were to do the thumbprint at the end, then I would have to photocopy it, which takes longer. Yeah, I know, not much longer, but I use a scanner, not a photocopy machine.

Why make a copy after signing? Just print two copies one for them one for you. Sign both and thumb both.

Yes, you can do that. I just think it is easier to not do all the extra thumbprints.

^^^^This is how I do it. It's fast and easy. I stack everything up and have them sign everything then go back and print everything. Very fast and no thumb print smudges on the other paperwork.
