    DROS Printout Question

Do you guys have the purchaser sign the initial printout which shows "PENDING" stays when dros is ran or do you have them sign the on showing delivery date and approved status. or is it required to have them sign both. I've been having them sign it when they pick up gun and i deliver gun in DES.

Both. They sign stating "I have read the list of prohibited offenses and nothing would preclude me from possessing a firearm. By Signing this document I hereby certify under penalty of perjury the the information provided is true and correct."

The FFL signs it stating "By signing this document, I hereby certify under penalty of perjury that the information provided is true and correct"

Ok. I've just been having them sign and thumb print delivered one as that's all I used to do when I purchased a gun.

I have them sign and date both.

I also give a copy of the pending and the delivered to them, not all dealers do this.

Date is already on it at the bottom when its printed.
              Sign and thumb the pending,
              Sign the delivered.

Like I said in post #2, they need to sign otherwise they aren't certifying their answers and if you don't sign, you aren't certifying anything either. It clearly states it on the DROS in the box to the left of the signature box.

                    This.

A copy of the delivered DROS is required to be given to the customer, as well I think (not 100% sure) as the pending copy (I always give a copy which is why I don't recall if it is required).

                      DROS Printout Question

I always give a copy of both I usually staple the pending to their receipt. And then when I print the delivered and have them sign and thumb print one and I give them the other copy. But I haven't been having them sign the pending as I didn't think it was required because I've never had to do that buying guns in the past.

You need to get the pending one signed. If they are denied due to being prohibited, the CA DOJ might want to see that copy. Yes, it is required.

Been required since 2014 with the new DROS system. It resolves the paper DROS they had to sign and fill out before and randomly thumbprint on the back.

I think the new system started in 2015 :-).

Before that the pending needed to be signed, with the thumbprint on the back according to the CA PC, but the CA DOJ wanted it on the front.

well needless to say i couldn't get anything in writing but i did get an email saying they would call me back which they did. officially you are only REQUIRED to get a signature and thumb print at delivery according to the PC wording, now they did say they prefer it at the initial dros also as the law was written before technology and the electronic dros according to them since you used to have to fill out the dros worksheet and have them sign it and it also helps due to loss of one or the other copies at least you have a backup.
