Can an FFL limit PPT times/days?

Is it legal for an FFL to say they will only do PPT transfers once or twice a week? For only a few hours each day?

It's there business, I assume that they can do it. Kind of retarded to me and seems like they really don't want to do them at all.

Sorry I can't answer the legality question, but seems like there's plenty of FFLs around that understand providing good customer service keeps customers. Why bother with one that doesn't want to provide good service?

Not sure, but seems odd and I would probably not go to that FFL.

IF he is open for business and selling handguns he must do PPT's all open hours.. Pick up the phone and call the DOJ if he is limiting times for PPT's, he needs an adjustment!

OP i've found here the SF Bay Area, that the Larger Gun Stores are not as friendly for PPTs as your home based or very small FFL shops.

Try to find a home based FFL or a smaller shop and give them your business. Having them know your name and have your business for supplies, ammo, new gun purchases tends to go a long way.

                Good Luck . . .

Not to be mean or unwilling to answer the OP here but doesn't it seem like this question gets asked and answered here in the FFL forum once a month.

I searched but was not able to find an answer to this specific question. I know that an FFL has to provide PPT, but I needed to know the exact law regarding times/days. That's why I posted here. I think I will just call the DOJ and ask them.

A sticky in this forum - http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=725126 - has the Penal Code covering PPT.

No mention of days or times there.

The link provided states that they can not limit the days/times.

If you call DOJ it may solve the problem. Some friends of mine work at a shop and the owner told a customer about not having the time to do a PPT. The customer called DOJ and they in turn called the FFL and said he WILL do PPT's. Problem solved. Same day too.

Follow-up question. . . How much of that sticky still applies?

The non-limiting of PPT hours and written request for PPT is news to me. I've explored many FFLs with PPT hours and have never been asked to present a written request from any FFL. Doesn't mean it's not true, just seeking confirmation outside of the DOJ field reps.

Gotta love this forum, especially the recent influx of DOJ field reps and compliance reps stepping over one another and contradicting the OAG FAQ. Pretty sure CA DOJ outsourced their call center to Detroit or Chicago.

Tagged - interested in this question - especially since a popular and centrally-located local shop decided to limit their PPT hours.
