Feds care about straw purchases, a lot, both inside and outside of this state and work hand in hand with our DOJ and local agencies in task forces. Buying a firearm to be used as a legitimate gift is 110% legal and not a "straw purchase". Don't kid yourself. You don't know what you are talking about.

Generally, the 'straw purchase' discussion is off topic here.

Feds are entirely happy to allow purchases as gifts - the language of the 4473 specifically says so.

Transferring a firearm to an ineligible person is an entirely different crime.

A straw purchase does not require that one of the people involved be ineligible. If a person did not want a firearm in their name and asked another person to fill out the paperwork, that would be a straw purchase even if the first person could legally buy a firearm.

I agree that the straw purchase aspect is off topic to this issue, other than related to the topic in that you can not pay someone to buy the firearm for you. It has to actually be a gift for the interstate intrafamilial transfer to be valid.

You don't understand. He's a LEO and, because of that, he knows more than the rest of us combined could every hope to learn. Look at some of his other recent posts and you'll soon understand that. Forget the simple fact that many of us here have received firearms as legitimate gifts from our parents since we were preteens. The simple fact is that he knows we are all guilty until proven innocent.
