Hello, looking for any advice or experience in dealing with a recent situation at my FFL. Been using an FFL for a while and he was recently audited by the CADOJ for the first time. Discrepancies were found but no statement or charges filed. When I went to DROS the firearm, the DOJ system was working fine. When I went to pick up the firearm on the tenth day, FFL was blocked from system, upon logging in, with a message stating to contact DOJ. He called the DOJ and they gave him the run around trying to find a supervisor. Several days and dozens of calls later, DOJ has still not gotten back to him. FFL is basically at a stand still as he can't log or transfer firearms to customers while waiting on the DOJ. I'm just hoping I don't become a pawn between the DOJ and my FFL. Thanks for reading.

FFL Shut Down After DOJ Audit?
Collapse

Hope that it gets resolved after 30 days you have to do another dros. Who pays? If long term issue whats happens to firearms held for dros? -
Without talking to the FFL it's impossible to know the reason.
Most likely especially during the beginning of the month is not paying the DROS bill.
If he truly was not written up for anything that's all I have. You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.
Incoming fire has the right of way.

I would also suspect that the DROS bill has not been paid, which cuts off the FFL's access to the DROS Entry System.
I've never heard of the DOJ putting an FFL on "time-out" for audit issues. I could be wrong. Even though there's a rule book (Penal Code and California Code of Regulations) the DOJ pretty much does what it wants. They COULD be restricting the dealer's access to the DES until issues are corrected, but I'd call that "unlikely" at best.
If they had serious issues come up during the audit, I'd suspect that they would be making arrangements with an alternate FFL to complete the DROS (requiring the DROS to be completely resubmitted).

Is he a brand new FFL? 2 things that I know can cause FFLs not to have access:
1) Unpaid DROS bill. Due by the 1st. Once you pay access is immediate
2) Firearm notification pending. They need to read and accept the notice. Once they do this they can gain access.
The FFL should have their DOJ Agents card, have them call and ask or email. I have emailed our agents and they get back to me rather quickly.Just a normal guyComment

If you can get him to post here after resolved I think we are all curious to know what reasons may get you locked out. I'm with the Baboosh on the only 2 reasons I think he could be "stuck" not being able to DROS or release something..UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales

Something is not adding up. Is he calling the general DOJ number or the DES Help Desk?
Have him reach out to one of us FFLs, maybe he is doing something wrong. I can also give him our auditors contact info for him to reach out.Just a normal guyComment

Spoke to the FFL, he is having a CFDI rejection in regards to his COE. His COE is valid until October this year as are all his other permits. He has called and called and no one can tell him what this is or how to correct it.
Only advice I could give him is that he should reach out to licensing as it appears something is wrong. I tried a CFLC check on him and it failed so his CFD number s no longer valid and that is controlled by licensing I believe.Just a normal guyComment
