I only have shipped one handgun in my time as a licensed FFL so far. I did fill out the proper form and I believe it was pretty close to $50 to ship in a USPS flat rate box. Is this a pretty accurate price or did I do something to increase the base price that I didn't need to? I always see shipping prices on Gunbroker and such around $35 or so so figured I would get a few opinions from shops that ship more than I do. Thanks in advance....

The main increase in price is due to insurance, but typically the flat rate boxes are the cheapest way to ship. You also need to check to see if the regional flat rate is cheapest.
Unless you shipped a really expensive firearm, it seems high. Over $200 requires an signature, so you don't need to pay extra to request one.Kemasa.

Heres a question on shipping a gun via USPS
It was too long ago to remember all the details but I know it was shipping to SoCal in a flat rate box and the total would have been $24.xx so I paid and printed the label and dropped it off at the local post office with my proper form. When I got my credit card statement it meter ally doubled to $49.xx which burned me because I already quoted the customer. I tried calling customer service but after an hour on hold I gave up and figured I'd make more money just giving up and going back to work....
Oh and it was a VP9 so insurance around $750 or so
